Katia was inspired to create Sky Sirens because she w

anted to create a safe and beautiful environment for people to learn to explore their sensual side, through pole, aerial and burlesque. The studio is a safe space for students of all backgrounds and fitness levels to learn aerial and dance styles, and to be included in a positive community. After five weeks of renovations and set up, Sky Sirens launched with a bang in May 2016, with a decadent Launch Party showcasing performances by local burlesque, circus and pole talent, students from other Sydney-based, supportive studios. There were also showcases by the Sky Sirens original teachers, including Katia, Dahlia, Lola and Billie. Guests were treated to champagne and canapés and this luxurious event set the stage for our passion of creating performance opportunities for our students and community. The very first term at Sky Sirens had 60 students, with only four teachers. Sky Sirens is now open seven days, with more than 400 students attending classes each week, and we are now a team of over 25. Our students are part of an empowering, diverse community that promotes body-positivity and self-acceptance. The studio is always growing and evolving, with the goal of being as inclusive and diverse as possible. Since opening we have launched many initiatives to promote these goals, including using gender-neutral vocabulary in all our classes, and our ‘We Are Sirens’ diversity campaign.

The team at Sky Sirens acknowledges that we meet, work and learn on what is and will always be the land of the Gadigal people. We pay our respects to Elders; past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. S3x Workers, Stripp3rs and Erotic Dancers pioneered and paved the way to make our Art Form available to us in mainstream society. We acknowledge that all our Erotic & Pole classes have their roots in S3x Work and we do everything we can to preserve that culture.

A little PSA before booking - we have a new levelled stream for our Lyra classes. Once students graduate from Pearls, they can now choose to go down the “Low Hoop” pathway if they wish. Students who find inverting, flip mounting and hocks mounting inaccessible can now access the higher level classes without being held back. Students who don’t “pass” the pre-requisites for High Hoop classes are not permitted to deviate off the low hoop pathway (for example, a student in Emeralds Low Hoop can’t move up to Rubies High Hoop). However, students who have “passed” the pre-requisites for High Hoop classes can effectively enrol into either Low or High Hoop classes. Our Low Hoop classes follow the same routine as High Hoop classes, however it is adapted into a Low Hoop style. Currently, we have Low Hoop classes available only in Emeralds and Rubies, however more levels will be available soon. If you’re unsure about how our new pathway works - please Speak to a Siren.

♥️ update ♥️

Tomorrow, Friday 29th April we will be finalising our renovations and connecting the air conditioning.

This won’t affect classes, however it will impact Practice Time for the upstairs rooms during the day. Downstairs in the dollhouse room (Lyra) won’t be affected.

We welcome all students to come to practice time (for the whole studio), we aren’t going to close as the work is very minor. However there may be slight interruptions throughout the day with regards to tradies entering the upstairs classrooms.
