SKY GARDEN //
Thrilled to share my new sculptural commission, sky garden, installed today at the extraordinary Prismatic House in Melbourne. The work has evolved through two years of conversation and approximately eight months of design and production.
Dear Farren, thank you for the opportunity to create this work. It has been an incredible privilege to extend my perceptual sequences of geometric colour skywards within your remarkable home.
A huge thank you to the Sculpture Co team for fabricating the work, with special thanks to Jason, Michael, Mile and Kylee. Also to Nile from Fortem Projects for his precision work cutting tiles today! (No pressure).
Thanks to James Makin Advisory who opened this conversation with the client two years ago at Sydney Contemporary… I like to think that all good things take time.
‘sky garden’, extends my investigation into the perceptual dynamics of geometric colour sequences at a human scale. Its reflective base incorporates the surrounding environment—and the viewer—into a continually shifting, site-responsive encounter, requiring close engagement and embodied interaction for the work to be fully realised.
