Our Story
Fandata means to find in Cape Verdean Creole.
FANDATA STUDIO aka Ana Rita Pires & Mito Elias.
We are both visual artists and community arts practitioners with a vast experience in working with youth and diverse community groups. Our journey started throughout Europe and Cabo Verde - West Africa, and we are now excited to be working here in Australia.
Our workshops focus on creating a safe and dynamic space were children and adults can explore various creative paths & outcomes, be exposed to a diverse range of materials and navegate independently through the act of creating.
Another of our major focuses is the use of non traditional materials, the less "noble" ones. We use these mediums not only because we believe in their hidden potential but we also enjoy encouraging people to make & create and abolish the notion of expensive material necessarily leading to the "best" or most original outcome.
Process is always the way and this is what we will explore profoundly.
Fandata Studio will be working out of a new space in Sunshine, Melbourne`s West. We will be offering a number of visual arts workshops to children and adults.
