One of my biggest passions with ceramics is experimenting with glazes… & this vessel was definitely one of those experiments….

Lots of glaze combos that created all these variations of blues, turquoise, purples and greens with unexpected reactions across the surface…

The result? a vessel that looks like it was lost in orbit for some time but somehow found its way back to Earth… & now holds flowers in my kitchen…..Quite a dramatic trip just to become a flower vase! ;)

Since childhood, mine has always been the same place…. an imaginary fairy woodland forest. A place filled with butterflies, tangled leaves and hidden creatures. A place where magic exists and only good things can find you.

I suppose I never really stopped going there…. 🌿

This commission made me very happy ….A whole little purple village! As a purple fan myself….making all these tiny houses in different shades of purple was so much fun.

I like to imagine that when no one is looking, tiny fairies move in… choosing their favourite little house, lighting the windows and turning it into their own magical purple village 💜✨

I wanted each mug to feel connected to nature but still have its own personality. There is something I really love about making functional pieces like these… art that becomes part of someone’s coffee or tea ritual. 🍃🤎….

Whether it’s pastel skies or bright purple sunsets…these commissioned travel mugs have been such a fun little break from working hard on my vessels for upcoming exhibitions. I spend so much of my time creating larger sculptural pieces so I really enjoy having these smaller commissions in between… ☁️
