THE RED DRESS IS COMING TO CRAFT4CRAFTERS in Somerset, UK 🇬🇧

I’ll be bringing The Red Dress to Craft4Crafters & Stitching4All at the Bath & West Showground on Saturday 31st October, for one day only!

Come and see the extraordinary embroideries created by 380 people from 51 countries, and I’ll be there to share the stories behind the stitches and the dress’s remarkable journey around the world.

I will also have copies of the newly updated Red Dress Catalogue and ‘The Red Dress: Conversations in Stitch’ published by Quickthorn - Independent Publisher

The show runs from 29th–31st October, with wonderful textile displays, workshops, demonstrations and plenty of craft shopping!

THE RED DRESS IN CLO3D ❤️

As part of my ongoing collaboration with the at Bath Spa University I’m very excited to share these incredible images created by Andrew Richards MA RCA, Technical Demonstrator in Fashion Design at Bath Spa University, exploring The Red Dress pattern using CLO3D software.

Beginning by photocopying the dress’s paper pattern pieces Andrew has brought the garment’s structure into the digital world in such a creative way, revealing a whole new dimension to her extraordinary construction.

A huge thank you to Andrew for his amazing work and enthusiasm - and to my collaborator Gail Falconer for all her creative genius in the original construction of The Red Dress back in 2009!

A very special return to Bedales, my old school, this time with The Red Dress!

It was quite something to bring the dress back to a place filled with so many memories and life experiences, and to share the extraordinary journey I’ve been on since my own school days, including guiding The Red Dress around the world.

I spent a very relaxing hour offering a World Embroidery workshop to the fashion students, then presented a Jaw (presentation) to the school, and later in the evening a talk to the wider community, all while garment was on display in the very famous school library.

Huge thanks to everyone at Bedales for such a warm welcome back, and to all those who came along, stitched, listened and shared in the stories of The Red Dress.

A day I’ll certainly treasure.

THE RED DRESS EXHIBITION IS NOW OPEN IN BATH! 💫

After travelling across the world these last few months, The Red Dress has arrived at Roseberry Road Studios in Bath 🇬🇧 , and we’re delighted to welcome visitors!

Alongside the dress, you can explore photographs and film from her extraordinary journey, as well as a special preview of The Red Dress Embroidery Archive, which I’m developing in collaboration with a wonderful team at Bath Spa University.

Our ticketed event this evening is now SOLD OUT — thank you so much for the incredible interest ❤️

But the exhibition itself is FREE to visit, and everyone is very welcome to come along and spend time discovering the extraordinary embroideries, people and stories held within the dress.

I’m delighted to share another project inspired by The Red Dress, this one was created by a group of 2-3 year olds at Rillington pre-school in the UK.

Their teacher Kimberly Gill writes:

“The Rillington Red Dress was created with individual panels of ‘Tapestry’ using a variety of resource’s, such as card and ribbons , egg boxes and pipe cleaners, wools , fabrics, art straws etc.

This enabled each varied age and ability of child to contribute a section to the final dress. The children’s finished design used a red painting apron to stabilise the final garment.

Just look at the amazing train!

The Rillington Red Dress is modelled here by the wonderful Enzo who is just 3 years old”.

A wonderful afternoon with The Red Dress at the University of Bucharest yesterday, in the beautiful surroundings of its historic library.

After sharing the story of the dress and its extraordinary embroiderers, we spent time together exploring the garment and the stories held within its stitches. Such a lovely, engaged and diverse group…some had followed the project for years, while others had only discovered it that morning!

Huge thanks to ilinca maican for organising and bringing everything together so beautifully, and to everyone who joined us 🙏🏽

Afterwards, Ilinca took my partner and I to see the World Textiles exhibition at the MetNY, which completely blew my mind! So many stunning textiles from around the world, with extraordinary similarities between embroidery traditions. At times it was almost impossible to tell where pieces had originated - particularly a Mexican huipil and a traditional Romanian blouse!

We’re now back in the UK for lots of talks and events in the south of England as well as an exhibition at Roseberry Road Studios in Bath 21st - 30th October 2026…stay tuned for more info.

The Red Dress and I are now in Romania, and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon filming an interview for ‘Brilliant’ with the esteemed Loredana Negrila, in the beautiful and historic Romanian Academy in Bucharest 🇷🇴

It was a real pleasure to share the story of The Red Dress with Loredana, whose thoughtful questions reflected such a deep understanding of the project, its journey and the many people whose stories are held within its stitches.

THE RED DRESS IS COMING TO BATH! 💫❤️🧵

I will soon be bringing The Red Dress to Roseberry Road Studios in Bath for a special free exhibition, in collaboration with Bath Spa University, 21st–30th October.

Alongside The Red Dress and the exhibition film, you’ll also be able to preview the early stages of The Red Dress Embroidery Archive, which I’m creating with an incredible team at Bath Spa University - much more on that soon!

After travelling across the world, it feels rather lovely to be bringing her a little closer to home…and I’ll be there for the Opening Night on Wednesday 21st October, with a Q&A at 7pm where I’ll be sharing the story of the dress, the extraordinary people behind her stitches, and some of the adventures from her 17-year journey.

Created over 14 years, The Red Dress brings together the work of 380 embroiderers from 51 countries and is now officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest collaborative embroidery project.
