Next up in our After Dark spotlight is the fabulous Miss Rosie Riot! 🔥✨

Rosie is coming up on her first full year of burlesque AND her first year as part of the Lady Velvet family, and this term you’ll catch her strutting her stuff with our Burly Choreography crew!

💋 Why burlesque?
“Burlesque combines some of my true loves: all sorts of music, dance, costumes and lingerie. And above all — sparkly things. ✨✨✨”

Honestly. Say no more.

🎭*What do you love about performing?
“I love seeing audience reactions. It gets me out of my own head trying to perfect things and reminds me that burlesque is about having a fun, fabulous and outrageous time!”

✨ Feathers, fringe or rhinestones?
Option D: ALL OF THE ABOVE.

👠 Heels or barefoot?
“Heels for a good power strut — but as a clumsy girlie I do love the freedom to strut my stuff in stockings and bare feet too.” 😂

🔥 Slow & sultry or big & dramatic?
“I’m a sucker for the dramatic.”

And who exactly does Rosie become when she steps onto the stage?

“She’s elegant with a little bit of cheek — literally and metaphorically.” 🍑

💄 Show bag essential?
“Backup lippy, obviously — for those essential post-caffeinated-beverage touch-ups.”

And you know you’re a burlesque performer when…

“Stripping to your un**es has no hint of shame.”

💋✨ MEET THE CAST: KATIE GORL ✨💋

Next up in our After Dark performer spotlights, meet Katie Gorl! 💃🔥

Katie started dancing in 2024 and has well and truly thrown herself into the Lady Velvet world, taking on hip hop, jazz, acro and contemporary, and this term you’ll see her hitting the After Dark stage in hip hop, jazz AND a solo!

✨ What got you into dance?
“I started dance so I could work my way towards cheerleading. I like how the teachers and other students are lovely.”

🔥 Describe your performance style:
Energetic. Dynamic. Expressive.

Katie loves that dance is not only fun, but gives her the chance to use her solos to express a particular emotion or message, and we’ll be seeing exactly that at After Dark!

💎 Feathers, fringe or rhinestones?
Rhinestones!

👜 One thing ALWAYS in the show bag?
“A scrunchie that matches my performance outfit.”

And you know dance has officially taken over your life when…
“You’re at a party and doing a move you learned in class.” 💀💃

Katie is looking forward to performing all of her pieces AND getting to watch her classmates take the stage in styles outside her own.

As for what to expect from her solo? She’s keeping most of that under wraps… but she has given us one little hint:

Who better to guide us through a night of sass, sparkle and spectacular student performances than the Androgynous Altruist of Burlesque themselves, Dollar Dazzler! 💋🔥

All seeing. All knowing. All sharing.

Dollar Dazzler (They/Them) is a nationally recognised burlesque performer and historian with 14 years in the art form, based right here in Boorloo/Perth.

Passionate about preserving and celebrating the history of the erotic arts, Dollar invites others to discover their own sensual study practices, stories and place within the wonderful world of burlesque. And this Saturday, they’re taking the reins at AFTER DARK! 🎤

Expect knowledge. Expect fabulousness. Expect a little chaos. And expect Dollar to leave it ALL on the stage while cheering on the next generation of Lady Velvet performers. ✨

💋✨ MEET THE CAST: FIZZY PICKLES ✨💋

Meet Fizzy Pickles! Four years into her Lady Velvet journey and getting ready to hit the After Dark stage not once, not twice, but THREE times! 🔥

Performing with Art of Tease and Burlesque Choreography, Fizzy Pickles’s journey is a gorgeous reminder that it is NEVER too late to finally do the thing you’ve always wanted to do.

💋 How did your burlesque journey begin?
"I feel like for a long time I wanted to dance and perform but it wasn’t until my mid 30’s that I found the courage to start! Now I absolutely love it and I feel more confident in myself, I’ve found where I feel like I belong and it’s such a wonderfully positive and encouraging community."

✨ Feathers, fringe or rhinestones?
“Loving a bit of fringe at the moment — can’t help but want to move those hips!”

👠 Heels or barefoot?
Heels.

🔥 Slow & sultry or big & dramatic?
“More cheeky/playful, I’d say.”

Say hello to Aurora Moon, one of the newest members of our Lady Velvet family and a performer getting ready to make her BURLESQUE DEBUT at After Dark! 🔥

Aurora has always loved dancing, but only started taking classes within the last 12 months and joined us at Lady Velvet this term. Now she’ll be hitting the stage with Burlesque Choreography and Art of Tease!

💋 Why burlesque?
“I love dancing and love the playfulness, fun and expression of burlesque!”

✨ What have you discovered about yourself?
“I have a new appreciation for my body and the way I move. It has been wonderful to embrace a slower, more sensual side of myself.”

🔥 Describe your performance style:
Sassy. Silly. Seductive.

👠 Heels or barefoot?
“Heels!”

✨ Feathers, fringe or rhinestones?
“Can I say all? More, more, more darling!”

And how do you know you’ve officially become a burlesque performer?

“Undressing becomes more than a practical task.” 😂💋

For her very first After Dark, Aurora is promising a little 🤡 🥀 🤘 and most of all, she’s excited to make her burlesque debut!

Meet Mackenzie Sapphire: dancer, singer, burlesque performer, and a member of the Lady Velvet family for an incredible five years!

You’ll be seeing plenty of Mackenzie at this term’s After Dark, performing with Art of Tease, Choreography Burlesque, AND making her vocal solo debut! 🎤🔥

💋 What made you try burlesque?
“I have always loved the burlesque world and just thought, why not? As an adult I missed being on stage, so I just decided to sign up for class.”

✨ What has burlesque taught you?
“That I am more confidant and capable than I actually think I am not just with performing but in my everyday life, and I feel like I’ve finally (almost) found myself again.”

🎭 Describe your performance style:
Magical. Alluring. Radiant.

🔥 What can we expect from you at After Dark?
“Sultry, a little bit sassy, maybe a touch crazy and with an added bit of flair.”
