At MyFirstGym Strathpine, we often hear parents say:
💬 “My child gets overwhelmed.”
💬 “They’re too busy watching all the other kids.”
💬 “They just stand back and take everything in.”
And we want you to know — this is so very normal and it will not last forever. 💛
For many children, walking into a new environment can feel like a LOT. New faces, new equipment, new sounds, new expectations and lots of other children moving around them.
Before they feel ready to jump in, they may need time to watch, process and understand their surroundings. They’re working out what’s happening, what comes next and, most importantly, whether they feel safe and comfortable.
Some children join in straight away. Others might need a few classes to observe from the sidelines, stay close to loved ones, or watch what the other children are doing before they feel confident enough to participate.
And that is absolutely okay. Sometimes giving a child the time and space to feel comfortable is exactly what they need to begin to thrive. 💙
👇 Seeing these photos you wouldn't know this was Matin just a few weeks ago! Have a read of what Matin’s mum had to say about their experience with us.
"My child joined MyFirstGym shortly after turning 2, and over the past 3 months he has absolutely fallen in love with it. He genuinely looks forward to his classes every week and has so much fun.
As we don’t have family around here he doesn’t attend daycare, he was quite shy at first and didn’t participate much during the first few sessions. However, thanks to his wonderful, energetic coach, who makes every class so engaging and enjoyable for the children, we started seeing a huge change after just a few weeks. He has become much more confident, involved, and enthusiastic.
I wanted to express my sincere appreciation to you both for creating such a warm and welcoming environment. We are so grateful that you opened this branch in Strathpine and gave families like ours the opportunity to enjoy these fantastic classes."
