'The Ship That Never Was' will continue to perform through June and most of July 2026.

We will attempt to perform every day or every second day, but performances will only go ahead if we get enough bookings (15+ people) or if the weather is too bad to perform.

Without enough bookings, performances will be cancelled by 4pm on the day.

June - 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 28th, 30th
July - 3rd, 5th - 14th, 19th, 20th, 21st

The Ship That Never Was has been voted in the top 10% of Traveller’s Choice reviews worldwide for 2026!

Not only a great story and a fun performance, which has been running for over 32 years,  but also a fantastic team of actors who run the show and entertain the visitors seven days a week for most of the year.

On Monday 5th January 2026, Australia’s longest running play, The Ship That Never Was, celebrated its 32nd birthday with a full house (what a fun crowd!), a great cast and an uproarious time! We even had a cake.

We’ll never outperform ‘The Mousetrap’ in London but we are proud of keeping Richard Davey’s legacy going with over 8600 performances.

If you’ve never seen the show, put it on your bucket list for 2026. 😊

🏆 𝗧𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗗 - Award for Outstanding Customer Service

It is a privilege to have created a community of such passionate road trippers over the years, and if there is a common theme to the feedback I receive it is that Tasmania punches well above its weight when it comes to customer service!

In recognition of this, since early June I have been asking our community of more than 100,000 travellers to tell me all about their best and most memorable tourism experiences from their Tassie adventures, nominating those individuals who stand out as worthy recipients of the 2025 '𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱' Award for Outstanding Customer Service.

✨ An individual, or a business who went above and beyond to help them out?

✨ A life-changing experience that was only made possible because of the individual or team behind the scenes?

✨ A business doing great things for disadvantaged travellers?

✨ An individual or business that turned a potentially horrible experience into something incredible?

The response from Lappers was incredible, and I was inundated with nominations from all sectors of the Tasmanian tourism industry!

Special mentions must go to the good folks from Maria Island Cruises, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, World Heritage Cruises, Strahan, Tasmania and Gordon River Cruises, but at the end of the day there was a nomination that I simply couldn't ignore and that sums up what I love so much about our Tassie tourism providers:

Due to the wild weather in Tasmania last weekend, The Ship That Never Was delayed the first performance of the season.
We finally kicked off with a great crowd (including 2 gorgeous dogs) and a fun show on Tuesday 3rd September.
The show is now performing every day, so if you are coming to Strahan for a visit, make sure you come and see The Ship That Never Was.
5:30pm, 7 days a week.
