STARTS TUESDAY - Still a couple of spots left!

You may recognise one of the many faces of Nurina Simpson if you’ve been to one of our SPAT shows over the past year - she put in a star turn as the outrageous 300-year-old ghost in Fate’s Thread, as the cunning, evil villain in our Christmas Panto and turned her hand to directing in May’s Murder Mystery Play. Nurina is a veteran of the Illawarra theatre and improv scene, and we are thrilled that she has offered to coach workshops focusing on learning improv skills through a series of games (not on preparing a show).

Nurina first got into improv to overcome anxiety of public speaking, bringing a wealth of experience, boundless energy and a fondness for the absurd to the task. “One of the great joys of improv is its transferability to everyday situations... professional networking, social interactions - in a way, every conversation is an improv!”

Take a step outside your comfort zone, we promise it will be fun! Also, snacks provided.

Open to people of all abilities aged 18+, classes are bought in a block of 5 over 5 weeks for $100.

Dates: Tuesday 18 July, Tuesday 25 July, Tuesday 1 August, Tuesday 7 August and Wednesday 16 August
Time: 6:30-8:30pm
Venue: Stanwell Park CWA Hall

Bookings: www.spat.org.au

MEET THE CAST!

Last and (in her opinion) not least, playing the Doyenne of the Dramatic Society, the Fascist of Farndale, the Self-styled Star of the Stage it’s Kelly-Maree Michael as Mrs Reece!

Mrs Reece is proof that when PTA mums are given minute power in insignificant community groups, it corrupts them absolutely. She has clearly orchestrated this entire production to get her 5 minutes of fame, never minding who she scares off in the process. She puts the ‘Leave’ in Farndale Avenue, she puts the ‘Sing’ in Housing Estate, she puts the Drama in … well you get the idea.

Yes, she does drive a 4WD, why do you ask?

Kelly returns to the stage for her first full-length production in a decade. Kelly co-wrote and directed the 2023 SPAT Panto, and has written, directed, acted and produced for numerous productions with SPAT, Rising Arts Productions and Short and Sweet Illawarra.

As the former President of SPAT, she has to dig deep to play Mrs Reece. Reaaaaal deep.

The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery play opens THIS SATURDAY OMG IS IT THAT SOON.

Use code MURDER20 for 20% off tickets to opening night, Sat 13 May!

Thanks to The Illawarra Flame for the shout out!

Who’s coming to opening weekend?

Meet the cast of The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery Play!

Playing Thelma Greenwood, second-in-charge of the Dramatic Society, it’s SPAT first-timer Neisha Jana Simms!

We’re really getting into the pointy end of the Diva spectrum here. Thelma takes her craft (acting, baking, make-up) VERY seriously and she is NOT going to let her incompetent cast mates get in the way of her road to fame.

After all, if she weren’t destined for glory, she wouldn’t have been voted Miss Farndale for the 4th time in a row, would she? *

Neisha has been acting for as long as she can remember, both in amateur and paid productions. Most recently she’s been spotted on stage for ‘Plays by the Rules’ with Rising Arts Productions. She list playing Mrs Lovett (Sweeney Todd) in Melbourne as a career highlight - along with this play, obviously.

The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery play opens this Saturday, 13 May for 5 shows only!

Tickets: www.spat.org.au

*Votes are still being counted pending some discrepancies
