TIEYUAN (VIVIAN) ZHOU
A Gentle Order: Practices of System, Memory, and Material
Linden Projects Space
28 May - 28 June 2026.

This exhibition explores the delicate balance between fragility and structure. Suspended metal frames both support and release clusters of finely crafted ceramic forms, each carrying traces of language, memory, loss, and care. At its centre is the idea of “systematic gentleness,” which guides both the concept and the making of the work. Viewers are invited to slow down and notice subtle tensions between weight and lightness, order and vulnerability. Meaning unfolds gradually through repetition and proximity, rather than direct explanation. Within these seemingly rigid structures, the work opens a space for quiet attention, where fragility is not only protected, but becomes a way of understanding and holding onto what might otherwise be lost Vivian Chow

Linden New Art is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year!
As a thank you we are hosting an event on the 27th of June from 1 – 4pm to locals within the City of Port Phillip.

We will have a craft swap courtesy of Share and Swap Shop and a collage workshop delivered by artist Zoya Godoroja-Prieckaerts.
There will be sausage sizzle on the day, with open decks for anyone to spin some BYO records as well as a tour of this year’s highly anticipated Postcard Show, led by our curator Hamish Sawyer.

We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces and celebrating this occasion with you!

Please visit our website to RSVP for the collage workshop with Zoya

CALL OUT 💡

Applications are now open for the Linden Projects Space exhibition program 2027.

Linden Projects Space is a purpose-built gallery space dedicated to providing artists and curators of all career-levels a supportive environment to test their ideas, experiment, and exhibit their work.

Programmed each year by an open and equitable proposal call-out process, Linden Projects Space presents a diverse, free-to-visit, rotating exhibition program of solo, collaborative, and curatorial projects. We welcome proposals for projects that are critically-engaged, conceptual, cross-disciplinary, site-responsive, participatory, challenging, innovative, and discursive.

Since the Linden Projects Space opened in 2019, it has afforded artists the freedom to explore, experiment and take risks with their work. It expands the sphere of contemporary practice, championing emergent forms of art making and critical exchange.

Applications close Sunday 5 July @ 11:59pm

An auction record was set last night for Linden alumni and supporter Reko Rennie — and we couldn’t be prouder.

This result speaks volumes about the power of Reko’s practice: his unflinching exploration of Aboriginal identity and the subversion of its romantic ideologies. Art is about so much more than money, but moments like this remind us how urgently this work matters.

In true Reko spirit, he has partnered with Linden to create an exclusive limited-edition print for our 40th anniversary, and his generosity goes further. Proceeds will directly establish a new First Nations commission series at Linden, creating lasting opportunity for fellow First Nations artists.

Only 40 prints. One for every year. And only 25 left.

✦ $2,000 unframed / $2,400 framed

This is your chance to own a work by one of Australia’s most significant and sought-after First Nations artists, while directly supporting the future of brave new art.

Buy art. Support artists. Wake up every morning to something that will make you smile for years to come. 🖤

Further information about the work can be found at Linden’s website.
