Aurora?! Nah!!
That pink hue is the massive LED grow light rigs used at the MCG to keep the turf healthy and growing during the colder months when the stadium stands block the winter sun.
When it is a particularly foggy, misty, or low-cloud night in Melbourne, those incredibly powerful pink and purple light spectrums beam straight up and reflect off the cloud cover, creating a massive, eerie “cyberpunk” glow over the city.
