Develop your drawing skills and creativity in this workshop specifically designed to explore the fundamentals of drawing proportion, perspective and composition.

Using still life objects as inspiration, we’ll explore line, tone and shape utilising a variety of drawing techniques and materials.

This workshop is ideal for everyone, from beginners to practicing artists wanting to expand their skills.

Materials will be provided for use on the day. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any preferences or specific requirements, or would like to bring materials of your own along.

Have you ever had an idea or subject you wanted to express visually, but just weren’t sure where to begin? Or do you have an artwork that you’ve been working on that isn’t quite matching with what you pictured in your mind? Perhaps you simply want to draw or paint, but are struggling for inspiration. Well, this exciting workshop is for you!

Whether you’re a beginner or a practicing artist, come and learn more about how to take even the smallest idea and develop it into an engaging artwork or body of work. Guided by experienced artist and art educator Kerri Kennewell, you’ll be shown how to use drawing and painting techniques to realise an idea, inspiration or subject of interest, culminating in a work on paper or canvas to take home.

Materials will be provided for use on the day, and while you don’t need to bring anything you are very welcome to bring along a 2D work in progress and your preferred materials if you’d like to develop your own work during this session. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any preferences or specific requirements.

Do you want to learn how to paint ocean waves? Or are you looking to refresh your skills and fine tune your technique? Then this workshop is for you.

Under the guidance of artist and experienced art teacher Kerri Kennewell you will learn how to create rhythm, movement and transparency in the waves and how to observe more closely the heaving push and pull of ocean swells. You’ll also learn about choosing the colours to describe ocean waves and the importance of highlights, with the result aimed at creating a finished piece worthy of exhibition.

The first in a new series of workshops kicking off this spring will be our introduction to drawing and painting animal portraits. Come along and learn how to draw your pet (or any animal), capturing not just their likeness but also their personality on the page.

During this 3-hour workshop you will be guided by artist and experienced art teacher Kerri Kennewell () as you explore how to employ colour, texture, tone and light to create characterful renderings of your chosen animal, working from the initial sketch phase through to painting in acrylic on canvas.
