I'm feeling incredibly grateful today. ❤️

My painting The Stories She Wore has been awarded the People's Choice Award at the Whispers of the Past exhibition.

This piece was especially meaningful to create. Through layers of collage and paint, I wanted to explore the idea that we all carry stories with us – stories of joy, heartbreak, resilience, love and hope. It seems that many people connected with that message, which makes this award particularly special.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited the exhibition, took the time to view the artwork, and voted. Thank you also to those who have supported my creative journey, whether you've collected my work, shared a kind word, or simply followed along.

Thank you for being part of the story.

I do love a red dot ❤️

The Stories She Wore sold at the Break O'Day Art Exhibition this weekend and was also awarded the Encouragement Award.

The funny thing is, this wasn't even the painting I was planning to enter! A last-minute deadline panic meant I switched works at the eleventh hour.

Maybe it was meant to be after all.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the exhibition and congratulations to all the artists involved. I'm feeling very grateful today. ✨

Thanks Break O'Day Artists! My painting "The Stories She Wears" was runner up in the Local Art Prize.

I feel compelled to share this painting again..."Tree of Life". This painting has really resonated with so many people that have seen it and it has really moved them.
Here's the story behind it.....
In this painting I aimed to capture the journey of a woman who has overcome the trauma of abuse and found new life and growth in the present.
The painting tells the story of this woman’s transformation through the powerful symbolism of a tree. At the roots of the tree, we see the woman’s former self, represented by a curled-up figure surrounded by a snake that represents her abusive husband. This imagery speaks to the pain and trauma that she has experienced in her past, and the ways in which it has affected her sense of self and her ability to grow and flourish. But as we move up the trunk of the tree, we begin to see signs of growth and renewal. We see images of the things she loves, all woven into the strands of her hair that form the canopy of the tree.
Overall, “Tree of Life: from Punishing to Flourishing” is a celebration of the human spirit’s resilience and the power of growth and transformation. It acknowledges the pain and trauma that we may carry with us from our past, but it also reminds us that there is always the potential for new life and new growth, even in the face of the most challenging circumstances.
This painting echoes my own experience.
