Go to salvationarmy.ca or other non-profit organizations to help those in need. If donating isn't an option, staying home and social distancing can make a huge difference. The World Change Committee has and a very successful holiday fundraising season. Through the Toonie Tuesdays, and selling gingerbread cookies, the World Change Committee has raised $217.80. All funds are going to the St. George food bank. The money raised will help families in need enjoy a delicious turkey dinner this Christmas. We also collected a large amount of non-perishable food items, specifically cans. All thanks to the staff and students that did a great job at bringing in cans to create a beautiful can Christmas tree. Happy Holidays! To celebrate the holiday season and the time for giving the World Change Committee has decided to help people at a more local level. As members of this committee we usually think that our assistance is needed in areas far from us. We rarely realize that there are people in our community that need help, that we can provide. So for this holiday season the World Change Committee has decided to raise money to buy turkeys for our local food bank. We plan to do this by raising money through multiple fundraisers in the up coming weeks. A fundraiser we are especially excited for is Toonie Tuesdays for Turkeys, a fundraiser where students can bring in a Toonie on the Tuesdays before Christmas break to be allowed to wear their hats for the entire day. All funds raised will go directly towards purchasing turkeys for the food bank. We will also be selling cookie grams in the next few weeks left before break. We are very excited to be changing the world for the better at a more local level and spreading the spirit of giving this holiday season! Mariners, help us make as difference by bringing in a Toonie on tuesday, help us buy someone a turkey!

Our Halloween fundraiser is complete and we have a winner, congratulations to Mr. Godbout's homeroom class who raised over $88. Our overall goal for this fundraiser was $180, because of the generosity of the FMHS student we raised a total of $288.95! All of this money is going towards giving children in a developing country a new pair of shoes for Christmas. Thank you too all the students and staff who donated their spare change to this great cause!

The World Change Committee is excited to announce this school years first fundraiser. For the month of October we will be raising funds to reach our goal of $180 to purchase 50 pairs of shoes for kids in a developing country as a Christmas gift. As a fundraiser we have decided to have a little healthy competition between the highschool homeroom classes, each class was given a jar and asked to bring in any spare change they would like to donate. The class who collects the most change by the end of October will win a prize (to be announced). Look in your back pocket and in between those couch cushions Mariners, to help make this Christmas unforgettable for a child in need.

Today during highschool lunch the World Change Committee had its first meeting of the 2019-2020 school year. This year's focus is to help those in need and make a positive change in their lives, as well as educating our fellow students on the issue peoples around the world face each day. We plan on doing this by donating to multiple foundations throughout the school year. Everyone in the World Change Committee is excited for a year of education and helping those in need!

The World Change Committee will be selling ‘cookies in a jar’ as our next fundraiser! We are offering two kinds; Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip Oatmeal. The jars are $6 each and make a dozen cookies. These are perfect for gifts, and make baking so much easier!
Orders will be ending on April 5th.
