APRIL EXHIBITION:
Longing for belonging
An exhibition by Robert Mihajlovski
9 April - 1 May
Opening Celebration: Thursday 9 April, 5-7pm

Longing for belonging presents a dozen woodcuts created up to the year 2026. Robert Mihajlovski's woodcut prints capture incidental scenes of the proximate world to explore an inner cosmos, a landscape of places and emotions. They explore inner questions within the monochromatic tone of the scenes of visible reality. Mihajlovski's woodcut approach and technique create a poetic impulse – partly in the dynamic of black and white rhythms, leaving behind trails of frail absent experiences. Both as an artist and as a poet, this intertwining creativity with figurative-abstract impressions becomes a mirror – imprecisely recording – a life journey. As an iconic mosaic they are embedded within my travels, migrations and memories that fabricate the places of spiritual belonging. “Longing for belonging” attempts to connect my inner self with the creative existential field.

Rona Green brings together 53 artists from across Victoria, inviting them to express what currently captures their imagination – from the provocative to the evocative.

Featuring creators ranging from emerging talents to accomplished practitioners, the exhibition highlights relief printmaking and explores the possibilities of this technique within the intimate format of a 28 x 28 cm work of art. Each print encapsulates a concentrated glimpse into the artist’s vision, and together, the works reveal the remarkable potential and inventiveness of the medium.
