We’re excited to announce that Josh de Graaf has been appointed Section Principal Oboe of Orchestra Victoria!

A valued member of OV since 2007, Josh has performed with most of Australia’s professional orchestras, including the Australian World Orchestra, and has been an integral part of our oboe section as Associate Principal and Acting Principal Oboe.

After years of outstanding musicianship and leadership, we’re delighted to welcome Josh into his new role as Section Principal Oboe. Congratulations, Josh!

Now to meet our soloist! Lisa-Maree Amos’s musical journey has taken her around the world, from her beginnings in Brisbane to the concert halls of London, Europe and the USA.

Along the way, she performed with some of the world’s great orchestras, including the BBC Symphony at the London Proms, the Boston Symphony and The Royal Ballet Sinfonia. But after a remarkable international career, Lisa-Maree made Melbourne home joining Orchestra Victoria in 2007.

Now, after years of bringing her artistry to audiences as part of our orchestra, we’re delighted to celebrate one of our own as she steps into the soloist spotlight.

Since making his conducting debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House in 2018, Umberto Clerici has become one of Australia’s most sought-after conductors. Now Chief Conductor of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Umberto conducts leading ensembles across Australia, New Zealand and Europe, bringing energy, precision and deep musical insight to every performance.

One year ago today, we farewelled Scott Evans, Section Principal Trombone of Orchestra Victoria.

With an extraordinary 46 years as a member of Orchestra Victoria, Scott was the longest-serving musician in the company’s history. His contribution, dedication and love for the orchestra have left a lasting legacy that continues to be felt throughout our community.

We remember Scott for his wisdom, warmth, humour and generosity, but most of all for the deep passion he brought to the orchestra.

One year on, we continue to miss Scott and remember with gratitude the remarkable impact he had on so many.

Our thoughts remain with his family and friends. 🤍
