Platform Youth Theatre Platform Youth Theatre 1998 – 2016. Please note we have now ceased to operate. Platform Youth Theatre has now ceased to operate.

This page remains online for archive purposes only. Operating with Federal, State, Local Government and Philanthropic support between 1998 - 2016 we aimed to be recognised and supported as one of Australia’s leading youth theatre arts organisations, creating consistently acclaimed work through a process that empowers, develops, and gives voice to young people of all backgrounds and abilities throu

gh the creation and presentation of theatre. We worked to achieve this by making and sharing new high quality Australian theatre, delivering innovative relevant programming informed by Community Cultural Development principles and practice and, delivering initiatives which supported young emerging artists to develop their unique voices in Australian Theatre. With a strong committment to ensuring young people who got involved with Platform worked alongside, and with the support of, recognised artists committed to excellence 'even in a youth theatre context'.

ART AND YOU.
Are you between 16 and 27? Love making art? Care about mental health? Then we want you to join Art & You, a new advocacy project to help young people with mental health issues engage in the arts.

Arts Access Victoria are facilitating an exciting youth project this summer. This is a call out to young artists with experience of mental health issues, to participate in a series of workshops to co-design an advocacy resource for inclusion in the arts.

Arts Access Victoria is seeking 15 young people with experience of mental health issues to help us co-design a new resource to empower young people to talk about why art-making is important in their lives. It could be a video, a digital zine, posters... we want to hear all of your ideas!

The project is specifically for young people who have experienced mental health issues. You don’t need to tell anyone about your mental health but we are hoping to get some great info and advice from people who’ve been there.

What’s involved?
• 3 or 4 workshops over summer (snacks provided!) where you'll collaborate with other young people and share your ideas in an inclusive and creative space
• Reviewing an existing resource for adults and telling us what would be different for young people
• You'll get a $25 JB Hi-fi voucher for every session you participate in!

Who is involved?
Arts Access Victoria is running this project; there will be youth workers and arts professionals at all of the sessions.
How do I apply?

See the form below. It's short and sweet – just tell us a bit about the art you make and how you think you could contribute to the Art & You group. We will keep all of your information completely private.

Excellent initiative.

In August, Screen Australia's report on diversity in TV drama, Seeing Ourselves, revealed characters of non-Anglo Celtic backgrounds, those with a disability or identified as LGBTQI were all underrepresented on screen.

This is such a compelling story. Congratulations Chris Dunstan. Very clear reasoning in why Art Start is / was / is such an important program at Ausco prior to the BLACK Friday May 13 2015 cuts.

ArtStart was cancelled in the wake of last years arts funding cuts. One of the last participants explores why the loss matters.
