Taking Melbourne music beyond borders. 🌏🎶

From the stages of GARMA Festival to the The Edinburgh Festival Fringe and into Indonesia, the MSO is committed to sharing music, inspiring audiences and supporting musicians around the world.

Whether it’s bringing the Orchestra to new audiences, inviting people to experience orchestral music through an immersive VR experience, or mentoring young musicians to develop their skills and continue their musical journeys, we’re passionate about bringing music to the people, wherever they are.

From Melbourne, to the world. 💙

And that’s a sweet and savoury welcome to Australia, Jussen Brothers! 🇦🇺😂

Lucas and Arthur Jussen are putting their taste buds to the test as they sample some classic Australian treats... any guesses what Vegemite scored out of 10? 👀

And luckily, they’ll be bringing their phenomenal musical talents to Melbourne too! 🎹🎹
The Jussen Brothers join the MSO for Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos, conducted by Nodoka Okisawa.

Recently, MSO musicians travelled to northeast Arnhem Land for the 2026 Garma Festival, joining the Darwin Symphony Orchestra and the Arafura Music Collective for three days of extraordinary cultural immersion and music-making.

Among the highlights: our string section performing with Gumbaynggirr songstress Emma Donovan as she celebrated her new album "Take Me To The River", showcasing Aaron Wyatt’s viola concerto “Djeran”, and joining the Andrew Gurruwiwi Band's Yolŋu funk set on the Festival's final night.

Huge thanks to the Yothu Yindi Foundation for inviting us to their incredible Festival – it was a truly life-changing experience for all of us 😌

Organist Joseph Nolan gives us a glimpse into his upcoming recital, celebrating 120 years of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, before treating us to a little taste of his extraordinary musicianship.

Join Joseph at Melbourne Town Hall for an evening of music by Alexandre Guilmant and Charles-Marie Widor, featuring two spectacular works for organ.

“Can we do that again?” 😂🎬

The Jussen Brothers are getting ready to join the MSO for Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos, on the 10th and 12th September - that’s 10th and 12th, ok? 😉

Luckily, there’s always room for a second take. We can’t wait to welcome Lucas and Arthur Jussen to Hamer Hall for a program of French and Japanese works, conducted by Nodoka Okisawa.
