We are a new, boutique live music venue that
operates as a yoga studio by day and transforms into an intimate
performance space at night. At the heart of Frankie Upstairs is a love of live music and the
communities and connections it generates. For us, helping artists
execute their bespoke vision in our versatile space is just as
rewarding as experiencing the joy of their audience.

Super excited to announce our next (and potentially final❗️) gig at Frankie Upstairs! The lovely Izzy Summers will be performing on May 5th alongside Shana Music & Meisie - that's a lot of talent on one stage! 🤯

Our headliner for tonight is the unmissable Jack Phemister 🌟

Jack Phemister is a songwriter and performer from Yass, NSW, currently residing in Melbourne. Through writing and performing original music since childhood, Phemister has developed a distinctive fingerpicked voice on the guitar, and a passion for well crafted lyrics.

Musically, he draws on the beautiful and melancholic musings of Elliott Smith & Leonard Cohen; through to the twisted poetry and broiling emotions of Nick Cave, Fiona Apple & Gareth Liddiard. Snatching at any and everything they can, Phemister’s songs tend to find themselves in a miraculously cohesive, though somewhat genre-less niche of their own, and they seem to be happy there.

Phemister will be performing a selection of new songs, and cuts from debut album ‘Death of the Close Minded’.

Romanie is the project of Belgian born, Melbourne based singer-songwriter Romanie Assez. Her music is marked by its diversity of themes and melodies, yet anchored together with the consistency of pure and emotive songwriting, self-reflection, all the while showcasing her personal story and journey from Belgium to Australia.

Inspired by musical muses such as Alvvays, Big Thief, Middle Kids and Phoebe Bridgers - Romanie always aims to be direct and personal through songwriting, exploring topics such as anxiety, self development, hope and friendship.
