Jessie's Girl (R Springfield) - Rick Springfield 1981. After Springfield's initial success with Speak to the Sky in the US in 1972, there followed a long period of frustrating career derailments as his records failed to chart between 1972-80. Capitol Records and his manager Robie Porter (60's steel guitar instrumentalist Rob E.G.), had focused on promoting Springfield as a teen idol, in the image of David Cassidy and Donny Odsmond, featuring him on a Saturday morning animated series entitled Mission: Magic which showcased Rick's pop star good looks and teenybopper songs, with backing tracks that featured some of the cream of the L.A....
