Those that braved the cold last night and attended our SEAMIST event were rewarded. Inspiring conversations, passionate poetry, creative works, glorious guitar music, lots of laughter and a delicious supper and a cuppa warmed the cockles of our hearts. So you can find us in the dark. Two more sleeps until the Lantern Parade…

The weather is looking on theme for this Friday's 'Enchanted Wetland' Winter Solstice Lantern Parade 2026! So grab your gum boots & rain jackets (get dressed up if you feel) & bring your lanterns along to light up the most magical night of the year! ✨

🏮The School Choir will be kicking things off at 5pm, followed by the lighting of the bonfire & the burning of the fears & worries, with the Lantern Parade starting at 5:30pm.

🏮The students from Dodges Ferry Primary School & South East Arts have been busy creating beautiful light art to light up the night and the parade path which will be around the loop track again this year!

🚗A reminder that parking is limited so please walk, car pool or bike.

💸We will have delicious pasta bake, curries, sticky date pudding, mulled wine & hot chocolates available for sale from Okines Community House and the Rotary Club of Sorell will be here as well, running a sausage sizzle in the community garden next to the Okines Food Co-op! So come along & grab a bite or drink to eat & help raise money for Okines!

At South East Arts June workshop, Adults and children worked together today at OKINES to create fabulous light boxes for the Winter Solstice Lantern Parade on June 19th. Why not make your own lantern or light installation and come join us round the bonfire at OKiNES, opposite Dodges Ferry Primary, starting about 4pm. It is always a wonderful night celebrating community.
