WEEK 1, YOU WERE SO MUCH FUN!
And just like that… Season 2 is officially underway!

New faces, familiar faces, BIG voices, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of Spotlight magic!

Our first week was all about getting to know each other, finding our confidence, being a little bit silly and remembering why we love doing what we do!

If this is just week one, we are in for one VERY fun season!

✨ A little Spotlight announcement… ✨

With Season 2 kicking off, I’m so excited to officially welcome Aylah to the Spotlight team as a teacher’s assistant!

As well as being a musical theatre performer, she has spent the past few years coaching kids in gymnastics, so she already knows all about bringing the energy & encouraging little people. She also volunteered with us in Season 1 and is such a natural with children 🫶

She’ll be joining me at rehearsals each week, helping me with warm-ups and games, jumping into choreography and, most importantly, being another person in the room making our kids feel supported, celebrated and confident enough to have a go. She’ll also be helping with some behind the scenes aspects too.

Building Spotlight from my little idea into what it’s becoming has been pretty special, and having someone else officially join the team feels like a very exciting little milestone.

Season 2 starts NEXT WEEK!!

After a slightly chaotic few weeks of sickness, I am SO ready to get back into the Spotlight room and start making some magic with our Season 2 crew.

New faces, returning superstars, lots of singing, plenty of silliness and a whole lot of confidence building.

And if you’ve been watching from the sidelines thinking your child might love Spotlight… we still have a few spots left! 👀

No auditions. No pressure. Just a fun, supportive space to sing, perform, make friends and BE YOU.

Season 2 is NEXT WEEK and I am SO ready! 💜

Yes, we’re going to sing.
Yes, we’re going to dance.
Yes, I will absolutely be embarrassing myself on a weekly basis 😂

But the singing and performing is only one little part of what I hope these kids get from Spotlight.

I want them to make friends.
Have a go at something that feels a bit scary.
Be ridiculously silly.
Cheer each other on.
Feel proud of themselves.
And have somewhere they can walk in each week and just be completely THEM.

If they come out of Season 2 a little more confident, a little braver and with some very happy memories… I’ll be one very happy Spotlight teacher!

One of my favourite parts of Spotlight is our little “Shine a Spotlight” moment each week, where the kids get the chance to recognise something wonderful they noticed in someone else.

It might be someone being brave, helping a friend, giving something a go or simply being themselves.

And the part about her little quirks being not only welcomed, but celebrated? That’s exactly the kind of space I want Spotlight to be.

Come as you are. Have a go. Cheer each other on. 💜

From first rehearsal nerves… to SHOWCASE!

Looking back through these photos really shows just how much can happen in one Spotlight season.

The first few weeks were full of new faces, nervous smiles, finding our feet and figuring out what Glee Club was all about. Then, little by little, voices got louder, friendships formed, hands started going up to have a go… and confidence grew.

And then came showcase night. 🎤

Seeing kids who were once nervous to sing in front of the group walk down that red carpet, step onto the stage and perform in front of a whole room full of people was pretty special.

Not because everything had to be perfect.

Because they were brave enough to try.

They came to sing… but found their confidence too. 💜

One of my favourite things about Spotlight is watching the little changes happen each week; voices getting louder, expressions getting bigger, becoming braver and kids starting to really own their moment.

We’re not looking for perfect voices or perfect performances. We’re creating a space where kids feel safe enough to have a go, be themselves and discover what they’re capable of.

The singing is pretty special… but the confidence that comes with it might just be my favourite part. 🥹

This is an example of what “step into the Spotlight when you feel ready” means.

At our showcase, every child performs with their group, but they’re also given the option to put their hand up for a solo or duet if that’s something they’d like to try.

There’s no audition, no expectation and definitely no pressure to be perfect.

For some kids, performing happily within the group is their big win. For others, they decide they’re ready to take that extra step and stand up at the microphone on their own.

And watching a child make that decision for themselves…and then seeing the pride on their face afterwards is pretty special. 💜🥹

When I started Spotlight, I wanted to create something where kids could perform, have fun and build confidence without the pressure of competition or comparison.

No winners. No auditions. No needing to be the “best”.
Just a place to sing, move, laugh, make friends and have a go exactly as they are.

Hearing that the confidence built at Glee Club is now showing up at school too… that’s the stuff that makes me think, yep, this is exactly why I started this. 🥹

A little look at what a Spotlight Glee Club Showcase is all about 🎤

The red carpet, the nerves, the big smiles, the singing, the dancing… and SO many proud moments.

For some of our kids, this was their very first time performing in front of an audience. For others, it was a chance to take another step outside their comfort zone.

Our showcases aren’t about being perfect…they’re about giving every child the chance to have a go, build confidence and experience that feeling of being in the Spotlight!
