We often get asked ~ what does drama actually do for my child's learning?

Here's what we've watched happen, week after week, in our workshops...

Drama building the dispositions and assets young people need ~ as communicators, collaborators, thinkers, researchers and self managers.

Drama works alongside everything young people are already doing ~ deepening the skills they need in learning and in life.

Drama isn't separate from learning.
It's at the heart of it. 🤍

We often get asked ~ what does drama teach my child?

And the answer is so much more than most people expect.

Here's what we've watched happen, week after week, in our workshops... and why we believe every young person deserves a creative life.

Drama isn't just an activity. It's a way of seeing the world ~ and every child deserves that view.

And we haven't even touched on what it does for our academic learning yet…

Would your young person love to come and try? DM us or drop a comment below ~ we'd love to hear from you.

Save this for the next time someone asks you why drama matters 💜

You know those places where you instantly feel at home…
calm, inspired, little sparks of joy ✨

That's a bookshop for us.

We found another one last week… Antipodes Bookshop & Gallery

The space, the stories, the people, story time, the gallery…

Local and Sorrento Writers Festival authors & illustrators, a poet reading, shelves full of possibility ~ such a beautiful space to spend time in.

What an absolute vibe ✨

This is why local bookshops matter, not just as shops, but as community spaces. Places where stories live and where kids can fall into them.

If you’re ever in Sorrento, this one is definitely worth a visit… or even the trip to experience it.

Andrea Rowe Writer we missed seeing you - next time!

Is there a bookshop near you that feels like this?
Tell us in the comments, we’d love to discover them!

So much inspiration for our young people at the Sorrento Writers Festival Family Afternoon!

Authors and illustrators sharing the very first books they created as children ~ bookmaking at its finest.

Their ideas, their beginnings, their journeys…

A reminder that every story starts somewhere.

A first idea.
A first word.
A first picture.
A first moment of courage.

Imagine if every child felt that.

What if stories were the thing they reached for? Where they felt their imagination come alive...
and anything felt possible.

Every child has a story worth telling.

We shared this idea in our workshop this week ~ welcoming our young people in with a display to inspire young performers, readers, writers and illustrators... storytellers.

A little joy.
A little courage.

~ moments of noticing…

When we slow down, we notice…
we become curious.
We begin to look for the wonder and awe.

In the quiet moments, in nature, in the small details we would usually rush past.

And in that space, we begin to feel more creative ~
not forcing ideas,
but noticing what is already there.

It’s something we come back to often in our workshops ~
helping young people slow down, stay curious, and notice themselves, others, and the world around them.

One of our favourite authors we love exploring in our workshops is Kobi Yamada
He so beautifully portrays children as capable ~ full of wonder and possibility.

His book 'Noticing' is such a gentle, poetic reminder of what it means to truly pay attention ~ brought to life through whimsical illustrations that spark curiosity and wonder. .hurst

“Are you a painter?” I asked.
I like to think of myself as more of a noticer really.”

If you haven’t read it, do yourself a favour.
We found our copy at one of our favourite local bookshops ~ they have a beautiful selection of Kobi’s books on display.

A little joy.
A little creativity.

What if creativity is a key to calming our nervous system?

In a world that moves quickly,
we’re often more “on” than we realise.

Through play, movement and imagination, something shifts.

Bodies settle.
Voices emerge.
Connection grows.

We see this every week.

Creativity speaks before words do.
It works through sensation, rhythm, impulse, image, tension.

When there is space to slow down,
we begin to feel calm in our bodies
and safe to be ourselves.

A space to imagine, create & collaborate.
Term 2 Workshops now open.
