The STAG family is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Natalie (Ferguson) Martinick this week, taken far too soon by the cruel reality of cancer. Just 45, Nat had already lived a life full of music, passion, and connection.
Many will remember her from reaching the Top 40 in the very first Australian Idol, but for our community, she was so much more than that. Nat shared her incredible voice with STAG audiences in Reel Music (2003) and Only The Beginning (2007), delivering powerhouse performances of songs like I Will Always Love You, Can’t Fight the Moonlight, and Respect—numbers that truly showcased her strength and spirit on stage.
Beyond theatre, Nat’s voice became part of the soundtrack to so many lives—performing at weddings, events, and in bands, duos, and trios across Shepparton and beyond. She also gave back generously, nurturing young talent through her singing studio, Songbirds, alongside Gillian Mason.
Above all, Nat’s greatest pride and joy were her two children, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends.
Our thoughts are with all who knew and loved her during this incredibly difficult time.
