For the last 50 years, the people around Portland NSW have celebrated country life and art in very practical ways.
Today I send congratulations to the multitude of dedicated supporters of the Portland Art Purchase Society, past and present, for achieving 50 years of Portland Art Exhibitions.
I would like to make special mention of Maree Statham, Jacqueline Terry, Sue Banning and Elizabeth Irvine. They were instrumental in producing an important, well managed country art exhibition.
Congratulations on achieving this 50 year milestone!

Portland NSW Art Show Exhibition takes place on the first weekend in March every year. Artists from all around the Central West and beyond accepted for entry, all works are for sale. "Kiama Coastal" (130cm x 110cm) - a painting by Gary Laird that is currently available.
It visually interprets an impressive section of the scenic Kiama Coast Walk that stretches some 20km from the Minnamurra River to Werri Beach in Gerringong.

A recent painting (90cm x 60cm) by Gary Laird.
It is of Cullunghutti (also known as Coolangatta Mountain). It is a small mountain rising 300 metres above sea level from the Shoalhaven River Plain in New South Wales.

Two great art shows - Sorrento and Mornington. Both give opportunity to artists while supporting community. I hope Sorrento continues in 2027.

This week we visited Bright Art Gallery & Cultural Centre to see the Spring Exhibition.
To our delight, also on exhibition were a selection of early paintings from the Aldridge Collection "People and Places". We were very fortunate to meet up with Ross and Ron Aldridge at the gallery. They have provided 60 paintings for this exhibition. They were both very friendly and they shared many stories about their collecting journey. We spent an enjoyable hour discussing many of their paintings and the artists who we mutually know.
It was a great day.

The 58th Annual Exhibition of the is now on at the Berry School of Arts and I’m delighted to be one of the exhibiting artists.

Artworks are on display across 5 exhibition categories (Still Life, Life Form/Portrait, Abstract/Contemporary, Landscapes and a Youth Section). All works celebrate this year’s exhibition theme “Imagination and Reality”.

Local artists and Shoalhaven Art Society members will be present during each day of the exhibition and all artworks are for sale.
