Ask an Aboriginal person how they define reconciliation and the answers are not flags, morning teas and welcomes-to-country. Their answers are land rights, greater autonomy and treaties, writes Bridget Brennan.

If the great Potato Head, Voldedutton and his followers get their way, I'll watch Kharma do the rest. There's no way they'll ever be convinced of their error when self interest dominates their thinking through their belief in the invincibility of their extreme superiority. So will they benefit from the consequential rewards of their actions. If you believe in the existance of the Holy Trinity which I don't, you'll remember the supposed words of Christ, "Forgive them for they know not what they do." My belief is that those who are ignorant are simply blind fools and have my sympathy for copping the results of their ignorance and the rest are simply evil bastards who deserve their comeuppence and get no sympathy from me. They deserve no forgiveness at all.

Indigenous Australians have a special place in our nation derived from their deep history of looking after this land for over 60,000 years. A special place, not separate. The question tomorrow is: Are we prepared to give them the fair go that has been denied them for 250 years? Or keep the status quo and keep them out in the cold. Ask your heart. PK
