🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BIG BOSS MAN! 🥳
Today we’re wishing a very Happy Birthday to the man behind so much of what Ocean Park has become!
Ocean Park’s story began back in July 2000, starting out as a small aquaculture centre focused on Shark Bay pink snapper, with just two full-time staff and a handful of display aquariums for visitors.
Ed was part of Ocean Park’s original team and, at just 22 years old, took over the management of Ocean Park..a pretty incredible responsibility at such a young age. From there, he has spent more than two decades helping transform it into the award-winning aquarium, tourism and marine education experience you see today.
What began as a fish-farming venture has grown into a place where visitors can discover the incredible marine life of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area and learn just how special this part of the world really is.
And if you know Ed, you’ll know that the learning never stops. 🤓 Whether he’s teaching visitors and staff, sharing a random marine fact, working on the next big idea or learning something new himself, his passion for the ocean and Shark Bay is at the heart of Ocean Park.
That passion has helped create a place where people don’t just come to see sharks, rays, fish, sea snakes and other incredible animals — they leave knowing more about them, understanding why Shark Bay is so special and, hopefully, wanting to help protect it too. 🌊🐠
It’s been quite the journey — and there aren’t too many people lucky enough to say they’ve helped create something like this from the ground up.
So from all of us at Ocean Park, Happy Birthday Ed! 🎂🍻
Thanks for the passion, the knowledge, the endless teaching, the big ideas and for creating such a special place to showcase the wonders of Shark Bay’s marine life.
We hope you manage to put your feet up for at least five minutes today…😂
Happy Birthday, Boss! 🦈💙
