TIDAL Seafood Festival

TIDAL Seafood Festival Get ready for an unforgettable culinary adventure at this year’s TIDAL Seafood Festival, September 19th-21st, on the picturesque San Remo Foreshore.

The festival highlights the local culinary scene and celebrates the community's traditions and industry The fishing village of San Remo is in the Bass Coast Shire of Victoria; gateway to the tourist destination Phillip Island, and a great place to sample a fresh bounty of seafood – or catch your own. The history of fishing in San Remo stretches back tens of thousands of years. The Bunurong peopl

e would travel to this coast every spring to dine on fish, crayfish, abalone, and mutton bird. Commercial fishing in San Remo has been taking place for just over eighty years. The San Remo Fisherman’s Co-op was officially founded in 1948 and is one of only three remaining cooperatives in Victoria. The original target species was couta, the favourite fish in Melbourne’s fish and chip shops at the time. These days gummy shark is the firm favourite on many San Remo boats, with other common species including crayfish, scallops, squid, and wrasse. The Blessing of the Fleet began in the early 1960s – competition was fierce among the large couta fleet, and they were all eager to get help from above!

San Remo was originally named Griffiths Point in the mid-19th century by a local businessman but was then renamed San Remo in 1888 after the dynamic of the town turned from just a port to a thriving town. San Remo got its name after the Riviera dei Fiori in SanRemo Italy a beautiful town much like our own. In the early 20th century the town really took its stride as a fishing village and since then we continue to embrace this as our culture and this history is the backbone of why TIDAL exist.
A tiny town full of lots of history, join us this September for a celebration of what made the modern San Remo what it is.

WINNERS!
We were recently nominated in the 2026 Victorian Seafood Industry Awards for the seafood experience award and we are proud to announce we have come away as winners!
There is no denying that last years festival faced many challenges with the weather and because of this we lost a few of our vendors and experiences. But despite the challenges and thanks to the work of our amazing committee who put in countless hours of work to get this up and going, our volunteers that dedicate their weekend to helping things run smoothly and our vendors who stuck out the bad weather and helped put on a festival that ultimately gained us this award. A special thank you to our attendees that despite these challenges came out in the weather and immersed themselves in our seafoods culture at the festival over the 3 days.

This years festival is shaping up to be a great one and we can't wait to welcome you all back to TIDAL 2026!

Plenty of planning to go and some exciting things in the works. Watch this space!
