New stock has arrived from Diane Kime today!
Diane has brought in some of her beautiful handcrafted shells, plus more of our gorgeous wooden coasters featuring chickens. Aren’t they just gorgeous?
We also had a really lovely conversation today about something I think is really important — mental health and creativity.
I think one of the really special things about having so many artists and makers in our store is knowing that for many of them, making and creating is so much more than just producing something to sell.
Painting, drawing, sewing, crafting and making can be such an important part of someone’s wellbeing. It gives you something to focus on, something to get excited about, a reason to get up and create, and sometimes a way to work through really difficult times.
For some people, creating can help them through periods of depression, anxiety or just when life feels a bit overwhelming. There is something really powerful about sitting down and making something with your hands and seeing something beautiful come out the other end.
And that made me think about what you are actually doing when you buy something from a local artist or maker.
You might just see a beautiful shell, a painting, a pair of earrings or a cute set of coasters — but behind that purchase is a real person, their creativity, their time and often something that brings a lot of joy and purpose into their life. ❤️
So when you shop at Makers on Main, you really are supporting our local makers in more ways than you might realise.
And of course… it’s also a pretty lovely reason to pop in and have a browse! 😉
Come and see what’s new. 🐚🐔✨
