Remembering Eric Whisson
Today, we farewell Eric Whisson, a remarkable artist, teacher, mentor and family man whose influence reached far beyond the canvas.
Known for his celebrated Australian landscapes, Eric painted with a deep connection to the land and a lifelong curiosity that never faded.
Despite his success and recognition, Eric remained humble, always eager to learn and explore new ideas.
For Deb, Eric was much more than an admired artist. For almost 40 years he was a teacher, mentor and friend, helping shape her artistic journey and encouraging her to trust her own voice.
Painting with Eric was never just about art. He shared stories of family, gardening, soccer and life itself, generously passing on wisdom that extended far beyond the studio. His students loved him not only because he was an exceptional teacher, but because he genuinely cared about their growth and success.
Eric’s legacy lives on in his work, the many artists he encouraged, and the friendships he nurtured over a lifetime. He will be remembered not only for the landscapes he painted, but for the generosity, wisdom and kindness with which he lived.
Today, our thoughts are with Eric’s wife Ruth, children Warren, Jordan, Todd, Narelle, Colley Whisson , Barry and Erica, and all who loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. ❤️
