WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

Bruce Elder (Swing To It Sydney) & Melinda Jane (Rythem Junction) are coming to Gippy Rocks 2027

These guys have cemented themselves as legends of not only 1 style but multiple styles of dance in Australia, they specialise in Rockabilly, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Swing and are bringing their wealth of knowledge to Gippy Rocks in February.

Bruce Elder and Melinda Jane are two of Australia’s most experienced and known dance teachers. Starting their dancing careers in 1990, and competing across NSW, ACT, QLD and VIC, together they won many state and national titles in all three styles across 10 years competing together.

Their teaching careers started in 1994, and have lead them to teaching thousands of people over the past 30 years via regular classes across Sydney, as well as many workshops in Sydney and interstate.

They are also regular judges at dance competitions in Sydney and Interstate.

Sharing their love and knowledge of these dance styles with others is their passion, which shines through within their fun classes

We want to send a huge shoutout to our Gippsland sister festival LE Rocktober for a massive success over the weekend. What an awesome event with some great bands, great weather and workshops/performances from the Sydney Swing Katz!

Now that LE Rocktober is complete it allows us to ramp things up for Gippy Rocks 2027, for some of us on the committee it’s been a huge month and a half…

Tickets for Gippy Rocks 2027 will be going on sale Friday 16th Oct at 2pm so get your groups together and organised so you can snag yourself some tickets quickly as they’ve been in hot demand the last couple of years.

We have a huge announcement scheduled for tomorrow in regards to our workshops so stay tuned for that, we’re bringing back a legend of the dance community that hasn’t taught in Gippsland for 23 years…

Band Number 3

We knew that last years entertainment line up was going to be tough to beat! So this year we decided instead of one interstate band playing for the festival, let’s bring 2 interstate bands to Gippy Rocks 2027.

So this year it’s an Adelaide invasion!!

Along side Midnight Shift we’ll also be featuring The Silverados from Adelaide. We featured these guys in our second year way back in 2016 so it’s been 10 years since they’ve played in Gippsland and they’re as keen as beans to get back!

The Silverados are a well known Rockabilly Band in Adelaide, and attend heaps of festivals and events in South Australia and other parts of Australia so they’re 100% up to the job of keeping you entertained. Front man Barry Callahan has been a dance teacher for over 20 years which gives him the inside scoop on keeping the tempos at a level you can dance to and enjoy!

We’re super excited to welcome to the Gippy Rocks Stage Midnight Shift - Adelaide specialising in the Rock ‘n’ Roll music you love and want to dance too these guys have been killing it at heaps of festivals around Australia.

We love bringing bands that people either haven’t heard before or don’t see often in Victoria and we’re super excited to get these guys and girl over to entertain you for the whole weekend. You can check Midnight Shift out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Gippy Rocks.

Band Announcement 1

Returning to the Gippy Rocks stage for 2027 to finish off our festival, we’re super excited to have Jump The Shark - Australian Jump & Swing Band! These guys are the ultimate band to kick back after a full weekend of dancing your socks and shoes off and listen to some amazing musical talent.

By Sunday afternoon we’re very aware of how tired everyone is, but last time we had these guys we couldn’t drag you off the floor! So the only logical thing we could think of was to bring them back to play out the last two sets of the festival.

Sunday 2-4pm at the Canal Reserve come check out Jump The Shark have a dance or relax in the shade and listen to some great music.

Who can believe it’s the middle of August already?

This year has absolutely flown by….

Stay tuned this week as we ramp up for Gippy Rocks 2027, we’ll be starting with our all important band lineup, the chosen song for the Open 4’s at the Victorian Regional Dance Championships and don’t worry we have got something super special planned for our workshops but it’s going to have to wait a little bit longer to finalise.

We know how hard it will be to top last years festival, you all came and made it our best one yet! But we’re going to try again and hope you all come back and enjoy what our little slice of Gippsland has to offer

Our good friends at Team Richards Dance Studio are this years host club for The Australian Nationals held in Melbourne.

We always get a tonne of support for Gippy Rocks from Team Richard’s so we’re calling on our Gippsland crew to get behind and support them back. If you’re interested in going talk to your instructor at any of the Gippsland lessons or contact us and we’ll organise some spectator tickets or better yet chuck a number on your back and get out there and compete!

It's time to get excited, the Australian Nationals 2026 are taking place this August in Victoria. It's time to get your Entry Forms filled in, order your Spectator Tickets (bring your cheer squad) and show your support for Rock'n'Roll by becoming a Sponsor. Gippy Rocks 2027 Dates 🥳

It gives us great pleasure to confirm that Gippy Rocks is returning in 2027 and will be held on the 12-14th February.

We’ll have a heap more info as we start to get things organised, but for now book in your annual leave, book some accommodation and get ready for another awesome weekend away in Gippsland.

I know how keen lots of you are to have dates for Gippy Rocks 2027, believe me we’re doing everything we can to confirm them ASAP

We are just waiting on our permit to be approved by Wellington Shire Council to utilise their land and that’s our last hurdle.

Let us know who you think we should be looking at for Bands in 2027??
