This week is National Volunteer Week, and I wanted to give a heartfelt shoutout to all the volunteers who feel called to do something greater than themselves.
Whatever your expertise, passion, or purpose may be, every little bit truly counts.
For me, that calling is wildlife. Aussie wildlife. These animals are such an important part of our ecosystem, and I’m proud to be able to do my small part, even when it feels like it’s not much.
From the pouch checks, to the animals who are completely bunged up from being bitten or left for dead — giving them that last bit of comfort before knowing their fate… to the ones who make it, and the ones who sadly don’t.
And of course, those turtles who somehow find their way into the middle of highways… let’s just say wildlife rescue comes with some very unique smells! That stuff stinks your car up 😂
The heartbreaks, the failures, the little wins, and the beautiful successes — all of it means more to me than I can put into words.
There wouldn’t be anything more meaningful to me than this.
Sharing some of the beautiful Aussie animals I’ve had the privilege of trying to help and spend time with over the past year. 🐾
Ps. The kokaburra and the lace monitor were just photos I wanted to share! These guys are just beautiful to witness ❤️
