Thanks for the support and the time you have spent reading these poems, I do appreciate the connection, they are mostly written in search of why I am like I am, mildly weird?
Week 51 (a poem a week 2023)
Just Shy.
One more look around my soul
Not believing I’m completely whole
I see I am just like Swiss Cheese
When I open my mouth, you can feel the breeze
And every day waits to be tamed
The building blocks are rearranged
to cope with the burden that is me
in my life of let it be
neck hair bristles to the sound of missiles,
barefoot free amongst the thistles
with every step, a painful stride
there is nothing that I will hide
And now I long for once what was
Did it all change just because?
People seem to disagree
Just in the hope of being seen
I live with the unnecessary
choice of being; contrary
To push one down to raise one up
And nobody screams enough, ENOUGH
As consequence takes the place
Of mindless unending mistakes
Accumulation of wayward acts
Where no one listened to the facts
Once they have gone you can’t get them back
No matter how much you pray.
Too this day Shyness never pays
And now is everyday dooms day?
Has SANTA fallen off his sleigh.
Why is everything so complicated
And most things defiantly overrated
Whoever wins a screaming match
Do we ever start from scratch
Are any of us equal?
I fear there is no sequel.
We are here, then we are not.
in space and time we are just a jot!
Is seems a little stark
When we are all just shy of the mark.
To miss be an inch or a country mile
If you are doing anything
DON’T BE SHY, do it with style.

Week 50 (a poem a week 2023)
With life:
The leaf unfurls her true self
For all the world to see
It only takes a season before she has to leave
The rainbow dances, in a colorful fantasy
And I can’t truly remember, ever being me.
Magic and mystery revels its self-daily
I don’t get excited, well just maybe
Well just maybe
when heavy hearts and tried feet
Cannot dance to the up tempo beat
Of constant change and happenings
Of double bass and cowbell rings
A brass section and harmonies
Flash in the pan imagery
You just got to get to know me
Magic and mystery revels its self-daily
I don’t get excited, well just maybe
Well just maybe
So heart and lungs
Have gifted me another day
To raise my voice and have my say
Really, I am poorly behaved
But I will not weaken, I WILL BE BRAVE
As Christmas crawls to our back door
Recalling all the Christmases before
Unwrap the gifts
For what is mine is yours
As Magic and Mystery revel its self-daily
I don’t get excited, well just maybe
Well just maybe
And a curl of the lip
A disgusting sigh
The roll of your eyes
Is love forgotten in alibis?
The puff of smoke, the flash of light
And the magic still burns bright.

Week 49 (a poem a week 2023)
Spooky
When they saw her, they heard the sounds of violins
Hearts beat like a million drums; and symphonies begin
The angels rise a mournful note
I pray; “someone, just cut my throat”
For this is what the poets wrote.
About the apple and the snake
And of course, it was all fake!
Just a tale to keep us inline,
However, you can stray off the path!
And you will be just fine!
So eat the cake and drink the wine
We are here just for the briefest time
look to the horizon; not your waist line.
Add up all the good, and all the and bad
Line them up with happy and the sad
Hopefully good just pips the post
And we are happier than most!
Not that it’s a competition
Its spooky how I never listened
yet managed to land on my feet
a delightful life all most complete.
For spooky is as spooky does
and we all land with a sudden thud
no violins or orchestras
just the trailing off of mortgages
as we finally repay debts incurred
for seeking out the absurd
OH, the sounds of violins, that I never heard.

SO IT’s FRIENDS WE BE?
I don’t know what you’re thinking, feeling or caring
The wonderment of a wish delivered with grace, yet filled with daring
Hearing comes easy / listening seems somewhat impossible
I don’t wrap your feelings in cotton wool.
the promise of a holy sacrament / head in the cloud’s, feet set in cement

Is friendship measured in words and deeds?
Based on another’s wants and needs
The strength of a hand shake / the warmth of a hug
Comfortable but never smug

Is friendship an acceptance, a qualification / some kind of random need of validation
Pull out the weeds, curl up on the rug
If you want friends
First you must be friendly
Trying not to make enemies

Who would dare to be friends with bigots, racist’s
People void of feelings, blank expressionless faces
Mindless soulless vacuums of humanity
Yet blindly claiming, “oh we are friends, they mean the world to me”!

Well! YES they do, well just a few;
Well meaning, well intentioned
Beyond original thought, not to mention
Propaganda is the sound track to their life
my advice? Keep it nice

Live and let live, but if you’re not sure, then just be friends.
You can’t offend me, BUT SOMETIMES I MAY TRY TO OFFEND YOU
Its just what I do
That’s the price of being friends.
Now let me try to make amends

We agree to disagree, that means so much to me!
You say its charcoal when I believe its grey
Whatever; it will stay that way.

In my years of life, I have learned that when we have completed our time on earth, we will go, no matter the struggle. No one can stop it. We have one life to live. The material things we invest in are left behind.
Memories, therefore, are important to me. And so, I'm going to start a "reunion of friends". The idea is to see who reads a post without a picture. If no one reads my post, this will be a very short experiment!
But if you are reading this message, make a comment using a single word about how we met. After that copy this message on your wall and I will also leave you a word. jumped the gun a couple of weeks ago with this little offering, it belongs to an album due out soon, the album is yet to be named, but it will be eclectic, diversified, brilliant and entertaining. Chris is a big part of the Warrains, half of Chris and Kelly, a chunk of Leadbetter Swayn and a local music teacher. Lockdown may not have treated him kindly, we will wait and see. Over the next few weeks there will be and albums worth of material posted to You Tube and on Band camp, and maybe other social platforms. The thing is YOU need to look listen like and share, to encourage friends to look listen like and share and to make sure that the friends of friends, friends also look listen like and share, Facebook seem to have developed a need not to share with those you want to share with unless you have a budget that includes Facebook charging to promote, but if we constantly share the be living daylights out of this little ditty then we will know if Facebook is playing fair.

Loving In The Country and Hanging Heavy, both songs from Time and Life - Leadbetter Swayn (Spotify) now have videos on YouTube, there are two more in the can currently being edited, Another Round and One Horse Town, this concept project has been put together by Born In A Barn Productions, and Shoestring Budget Media, a cottage industry designed as a creative outlet for a dysfunctional band of super misfits who are totally committed to the art of self expression, probably most suited to a alt-country-ish style or country folk, then maybe "non-commercial country" whatever bag/genre/label you choose, we're just happy to be heard, listened to and shared.
