The Lady Pirates of Captain Bree!

Captain Bree leads her crew of mangy pirates in a takeover they will never forget. But when wealthy passengers, prisoners and a collection of unlikely heroes find themselves caught in the chaos, an unexpected adventure unfolds on the high seas.

Presented by Canaipa Amateur Theatrical Society in collaboration with The Bay Island Singers, this swashbuckling musical comedy explores identity, belonging and what can happen when unlikely people come together.

Gather your crew, bring your first mate, or mutiny and find a new crew at the show!

What a night! The sequins were sparkling, the sound electrifying! Rock Around the Bay filled the Russell Island Recreation Hall with rock classics performed by established and emerging SMBI musicians on Saturday night.

Groups and soloists including Joe Geia, The Bay Island Singers and Band, David Wellman's SMBI Concert Band, Jon's Canaipa Percussion, CUPS Ukulele Band, Vicky Macdonald's Coral Chorale, Press Play, Women of Karra, Farrel Bannister, Sally Se inspired the audience - singing, dancing, revelling in the memories!

Shouts of appreciation to those who worked tirelessly to bring about such a memorable event. Thank you to audience members whose participation, enjoyment and feedback promote continued planning for similar events.

Special mention to the working crew including Stage Manager - Bronte Hillier, Box Office - Philip Steyn, Sound Operator - Sally Se, Lighting and Videographer - Steve Asker, Photographer - Richard Waugh.

Thank you also to commercial sponsors including Russell Island IGA who supplied snacks and soft drinks for the performers, Russell Island Appliances and Chris McGregor - Bay Islands Property who supplied prizes for the lucky door ticket draw.
