I am grateful everyday for the profession I chose.

Being a Speech pathologist and having unique skills that have allowed me to help so many children (and their families) achieve their full potential in life is so incredibly rewarding. To be a part of people’s lives, and their stories (just like the speechie in this video) is something I don’t take lightly.

Play based therapy is the most powerful way to achieve meaningful, functional, and generalise-able (?!) progress!

While your child's session may look like 'just play', what is actually going on underneath is...

🤔 carefully pre-selected toys and activities to target the child's individual developmental needs (e.g. speech sounds, language skills, fine motor, gross motor, sequencing ideas in play and problem solving, and so much more!)
ℹ️ in-session observation, scaffolding and adjusting to help the child reach those 'just right' next steps
🪡 weaving in therapy targets so the child sometimes doesn't realise that they're even doing therapy!
❣️creativity and pivoting to match their interests, and weaving in therapy targets into their new idea
🗣️parent discussion and coaching and support for carryover of strategies into the home setting
