It’s finished! The Samarkand sky has been stitched! 🎉 With just two days left of exhibition, this piece can now be viewed alongside all the others.

Thanks to all visitors who contributed to this community piece.

The Shah-I-Zinda is one of Uzbekistan’s most beautiful and significant sites; a necropolis of mausoleums situated in Samarkand. We stitched the sky to celebrate its beauty and to honour its significance.

Exhibition ends tomorrow, Tuesday, at 5pm.

Anjilla Seddeqi is an Australian designer of Afghan heritage. Anjilla and I enjoy creative collaborations as we combine needlepoint and dressmaking. On this occasion Anjilla has designed a beautiful dress based on my needlepoint piece currently on exhibition at Embroiderers' Guild NSW Gallery76.

My needlepoint, in turn, was inspired by decorative tiles from Minor Mosque, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
