This recall has been heavy. I want to remind all our clients that I have never imported sand from China or used any of the recalled products.

Our supplier is based in Malaysia, where sand is locally sourced and there are no asbestos deposits. Yesterday, I submitted a combined sample of 10 colours of sand for independent asbestos testing — the results came back clear: no asbestos detected.

All contaminated sand identified so far has come from China, where asbestos is not only found but also mined and manufactured.

This whole matter has been really challenging and in moments like these you discover who truly supports you. To my partner Kris — your unconditional love and strength mean everything. To my Mum — you’ve made me the integral person I am, showing me that honesty and bravery are the way forward. To my kids — you may not know what’s happening, but you’ve felt the hard times with me. And to my friends Tarryn and Snazz — you never backed away, but stood beside me throughout this process.

As per the recommendation from Consumer protection all coloured sand activity should be stopped. For now, all future events have been cancelled. I will continue to keep you updated and remain transparent.

A message from The Sand Card Company

We want to reassure our community: We have never used these products or imported sand from China. Since the beginning, we’ve worked exclusively with a trusted Malaysian supplier whose product is certified and conforms to international safety standards.

Malaysia’s sand does not contain naturally occurring asbestos and the country began limiting and partially banning asbestos use in 1999. In contrast, China continues to mine and use asbestos in industrial applications.

While Consumer Protection has recommended a temporary hold on coloured sand in play, we fully support this precaution and have paused use until further notice.

Our supplier is already preparing updated testing and certification to ensure full transparency and consumer confidence.

: A range of children's sand products, sold nationally at Officeworks, Educating Kids, Modern Teaching Aids and Zart Art between 2020 and 2025, have been recalled due to asbestos fears.

The recall was issued by supplier Educational Colours for three products labelled as Kadink Sand (1.3kg), Educational Colours - Rainbow Sand (1.3kg), and Creatistics - Coloured Sand (1kg).
