🌿 THE FUTURE OF ROCKHAMPTON-BASED CULTURAL SERVICES 🌿

Warama Culture is setting the benchmark for authentic, Rockhampton-based cultural services — and we're building for the future.

Working closely with Darumbal People Aboriginal Corporation (DPAC), Warama recently delivered our On Country Nurim Tour as part of an induction for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) on Darumbal Country.

For us, authenticity matters. Our approach is about working together, respecting local knowledge and ensuring cultural experiences are connected to the people, stories and Country they come from.

Participants experienced:

🔥 Making fire the traditional way to start the smoking ceremony

🎶 Playing and learning about the didgeridoo

🌿 A guided bush tucker tour exploring traditional plants, foods and knowledge

👣 Walking and learning on Darumbal Country

🗣️ Sharing culture, stories and knowledge through genuine conversation

Working closely with DPAC is central to this approach. It helps ensure the experiences we deliver are locally connected, culturally genuine and grounded in Country.

For QPWS staff, the day provided an opportunity to participate, ask questions and build a deeper understanding of the Country they work on and help care for.

This is what authentic cultural engagement looks like. Local people. Local knowledge. On Country.

Warama is proud to be raising the standard and helping shape the future of Rockhampton-based cultural services.
