A still-life of my glass jar of pencils, paper stubs and brushes for my graphite drawings. I pulled out a few that I needed for this drawing and drew the remaining (which was tricky when I realised after starting the drawing that there were other tools in the jar that I wanted to use but didn't want to disrupt the scene). The jar was cut and made for me years ago from a bottle and is a sentimental piece.

Small still life sketch from last night trying out some new techniques. I got excited to start another today and ruined a $25 piece of paper in the stretching process 🙃 Time for an extra large coffee, wait for my next piece of paper to stretch and start again! 🌿

It's been a while since I've done some studies of master paintings, so sketched this up in pencil in a small sketchbook

I chose a painting by German artist Franz Xaver Winterhalter of Carmen Aguado, Duchesses de Montmorency aged 13 in 1860. Winterhalter was 55 at the time of this painting and living comfortably in France after creating over thirty commissioned portraits by the French King Louis Phillipe along with portraits of many European aristocrats.

Big ship to work in with existing work done by other artists. Reference based on the historic HMS Bounty, one of the best documented ships, known for an infamous mutiny, where today about half the residents of Norfolk Island are descended from the mutineers.

I had the absolute delight in tattooing Dianne and Lorraine with matching lotuses today, two beautiful women in their early 70s who have been sister-in-laws for decades. They are living proof that age isn't a barrier to experiencing new things and a reminder for me never to give a damn what other people think.
Dianne got her first tattoo from me last year and has slowly been building up a beautiful collection - whenever I have a nervous young client getting their first tattoo, I tell them about her. If she and Lorraine can do it, anyone can.
