Perfect day for an art gallery visit

'A Meander Through Life' by Wendy Donald is open TODAY and tomorrow at Swan Street Studios, 11am-4pm.

This exhibition is something special - spanning six decades of Wendy's artistic practice from 1965 to present day. It's not just about the artworks themselves, but the life lived between each piece, the evolution of her vision, and the stories that unfold across 60 years of creating.

There's something beautiful about seeing an artist's complete journey laid out like this - how their work changes, grows, and reflects the decades they've moved through.

"Whisky a Go Go" - The Luminous Archive

If crystal could talk… imagine the stories a whisky glass might spill (so to speak).

This piece is one of the largest in the collection (with my little mate here for scale). I named it after the legendary Whisky a Go Go in LA — the music mecca where everyone who’s anyone has played. I first heard about it in the 80s when I fell in love with The Doors.

Music has always played a big part in my life, how I spent my well-spent, misspent youth. Back in the 90s I managed bands and have kept a list of every band I've ever seen (or can remember seeing).

I can see this artwork hanging above a dining room table, in a fine dining restaurant, whiskey bar, or cigar lounge.

I've never been to the Whisky, it's on the bucket list, what venues are on yours?
