Each night starts with vocal warmups and short songs, then working on

parts for new songs, and finally finishing with a big sing. Thursdays 7:15pm - 8:45pm
$15 casual, $120 full term of 10 weeks.

Nicole has decided that she is no longer able to continue running Folk Choir and is stepping down as leader. She has been in conversation with a few people to see if there is a way for the choir to continue so we await the outcome.

I'm sure I speak for every choir member, current and past, when I say how much we appreciate the ten years of dedication Nicole has given Folk Choir. We wish her easier times ahead and much happiness in her future endeavours.

Folk Choristers, I have disabled posting to this page, hopefully temporarily. There appears to have been a mass scam attack on a lot of music community pages so I'm hoping that disabling posts will help protect us.
As always, if you receive a post with a suspicious link, don't click it!(Mal)

Due to the ongoing uncertainties surrounding singing and Covid Nicole has decided to furlough the choir for this term. All being well we will resume on 28th April.

Until then sing whenever and wherever you can safely. Stay healthy!

Congratulations to our wonderful leader Nicole Murray. The Folk Alliance Australia's 2021 Australian Folk Music Awards recognised Nic's achievements with two awards last night.

In the category Community/Cultural Project of the Year, Nicole won in recognition of the massive contribution she made during the 2020 lock-down, creating the choir song tracks and warm-up exercises which were shared world-wide.

Cloudstreet and the Little Cloud Orchestra won the category Traditional Folk Music Album of the Year. Cloudstreet is of course Nicole, John Thompson and Emma Nixon, and Rebecca Wright was an orchestra member.

Folk Choir, with a couple of Morningsong members, had a party night while watching the awards ceremony via You Tube projected on a screen. So exciting!

See you there!

A big thank you to Rebecca Wright for leading us through our term of fun but productive singing. We revised old favourites such as Stand by the Shore, and Chì mi na Mòrbheanna, and continued to consolidate the beautiful song Crossing the Bar, which Erin had taught us in the previous term.
Choir members showed their creative sides too. Ray and Vicki adapted Fred Small's The Hug Song, often performed by Bec and Donald, to represent covid times. "I wanna hug" has sadly become "Ye cannae hug". Graham answered "Sumer is a cumen in" with "Winter is a coming in ....(let's all sing boo hoo)".

Nicole Murray will resume control of the conductor's baton next term, starting on 15th July. See you there!
