Fragmented (2026)

‘Conflicting feelings and selves, struggling to identify properly with any of them; experiencing confusion and unease as a result.’ — Shonnie Lea

Delicate, vulnerable and beautifully resolved, ‘Fragmented’ is one of many works in this exhibition that invites us to sit with the complexities of being human.

If you haven’t seen this remarkable exhibition yet, there’s still time. 👀

See you in the gallery Wednesday 10.30 am – 5 pm. 🤍

✨ Artwork Spotlight ✨

the cracks are starting to show (2026)

Shonnie Lea’s exhibition is filled with moments of honesty, and this work is one of them.

Of the piece, Shonnie writes:

“I struggle to allow those around me to see my humanness. I have an obsession with purity and maintaining a perfect image. When people get close it feels like ‘the cracks are starting to show’ — my flaws, weaknesses and inability to accept them.”

This beautiful pencil drawing is currently on view at Side Gallery as part of Shonnie’s exhibition — ‘The Sanctuary’.

The exhibition continues this week 🤍

We’ve been busy bees over here with multiple projects on the go 🐝✨

One we’re especially excited to share is ‘After’ by Rachel Dioso-Villa at Griffith Project Gallery.

Curated by Laura and designed by Leesa, this exhibition brings together Rachel’s dual interests in criminology and art. Drawing on her experience researching miscarriages of justice within the Australian legal system, Rachel’s work processes both primary and secondary trauma through a compelling body of conceptual, abstract and stream-of-consciousness works.

We can’t wait to hear what you think!

🖤 The Guards I & II
These blindfolded figures stand watch within Shonnie Lea’s exhibition as two of the “guards” of the heart.

Of the works, Shonnie says:

“They are blindfolded because they act on impulse and intuition. They are defensive, maintaining protection but also sometimes the source of pain and sabotage.”

Rendered with remarkable sensitivity in pencil, ‘The Guard I’ and ‘The Guard II’ need to be seen in person 🤍

On view now at Side Gallery. Or follow the link in our bio to view the exhibition online. 🔗

❤️ Join us in the gallery today ❤️

We’re open from 10 am – 5 pm.

This work sits at the heart of the exhibition and inspired us to paint an entire wall red! It needs to be seen up close. 🟥

Of the piece, Shonnie says:

“The heart of the sanctuary, as close as you can get within this emotional space. She clings to the heart for comfort and in turn restricts it; damaging it.”

A powerful work and one that continues to reveal itself the longer you spend with it.

Pop in today; we’d love to see you.
