Neurologically, Snap Inc. is a predator to the adolescent brain. It’s the one app I would like to remove from the tween and teen years completely. When talking to principals and school resource officers, they agree.

Recently, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection Inc. surveyed 1300 teens and found that nearly 40% who say they have been sexually victimized online say it happened via DM on Snapchat. This was double the number of the second platform (Instagram).

Unsealed, internal Snap communications from court proceedings prove they know there’s harm (10,000 reports of sextortion monthly).

, parents are begging for more help. Why won't you allow parents to monitor Snaps? Why not provide on-device blocking of explicit or violent content using existing technology (Apple is already doing this in Communication Safety)? Why delete information from your servers so quickly (which helps sextortionists and drug dealers)? What is the purpose of Quick Add for a young person? Why can't parents toggle off Streaks?

Kids are supposed to make mistakes. And for some, Snapchat ensures they never forget them. My message to parents remains the same: please keep this app out of your family for as long as possible.

Parenting with you,
Chris
