Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up was the theme for this year's NAIDIC week celebrations.
More than 21 community organisations and over 300 people came together at the Royal Theatre to mark the celebration and honour this year's theme.

Five local schools united to perform 'the Guri Tree' dance. Elders sat in the centre of the stage, honoured by the following generations that surrounded them during the opening ceremony.

The theatre was filled with stalls, workshops, dancing, music and the buzz of a enthusiastic crowd. Workshops featured weaving, dot art, clay painting and much more, celebrating the connection between the oldest surviving culture and contemporary life across the Liverpool Plains.

Mayor Clr Doug Hawkins congratulated the organising committee for their work and commented that despite the weather, it was fantastic to see over 300 community members come together for the Liverpool Plains NAIDOC celebrations.

MC for the day, Councillor Jason Allan speaking in traditional language, welcomed everyone to Kamilaroi country and spoke about the importance of remembering where we came from, our history, our culture and, the importance of looking to the future and where we are heading. With respect for the past and hope for the future, Liverpool Plains Residents came together to Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up.

Last week the Royal Theatre was honoured to host the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Road Show to a full house. Five hilarious comedians graced the stage and kept us all in stitches for 2.5hours while keeping the show interactive and engaging. From digs at the local Rodeo dating scene, parenting these days, Quirindis very own 'Hoff' and a skit of our year 8 students... the laughter was electric and just what the doctor ordered.

Attendees said "It's a wonderful thing to have our Theatre open again for productions and events, it's just what the town needs after the last few years of trying times".

"I have fat man cramp from laughing for so long. Great night and great atmosphere".

"It's fantastic that we can mingle again as a family and as a community. What better way to kick this off than to come to a comedy festival".
