🐝 BEETASTROPHE – The Musical 🐝
A special World Bee Day play reading at The Hive!

Join us this Friday 22 May at 6pm for a lively reading of Beetastrophe by Vee Malnar, Rosanna Grozdanic and Lizzy Smith — a fun-filled family show about bees, sustainability and caring for our planet. 🌏✨

Follow Bruce the Drone Bee as he stumbles his way toward saving the environment, meeting a cast of quirky characters along the way including Bella the Blue Banded Bee, Soil, Water and the villainous Mr Pesticide!

Even without the music, this interactive reading is packed with laughs, audience participation and plenty of imagination for both kids and adults.

From 7pm till late, the garden transforms for the final Buzz Bar party night at The Queanbeyan Hive before Winter hibernation.... come dance with us under the fairy lights. ✨

Two selectors. No script. No fixed destination.

Marky B (aka Imbibe) brings hypnotic, slow-burn precision shaped by deep Canberra electronic roots, eclectic techno, chillout journeys and underground music culture — including appearances connected with Dragon Dreaming and beyond.

Aunty Archibald first stepped behind the decks in the late ‘90s, playing venues including Heaven and Habana with the Friction crew. Formerly known as Arcane, this new chapter draws from decades of dancefloor memories, blending old classics with fresh sounds and an instinct for the uncharted.

Together they trade off, collide, and take the room somewhere neither could alone.
Cross-genre. Groove-first. Eerily familiar.

Expect the unexpected. Then expect it again.

Join us this Friday night at the The Queanbeyan Hive for a buzzing celebration of creativity, music, storytelling and community as we wrap up our World Bee Day festivities in true Hive style.

Bring the kids, bring your friends, bring your dancing shoes.
Let’s send the Buzz Bar season into winter hibernation with one last beautiful community celebration.

Wallabindi (Monica Moore) Live at The Hive

We’re truly honoured to welcome Wallabindi, the musical project of Monica Moore — an award-winning First Nations (Noongar, Yamatji) and Myanmar artist, and a much-loved member of our Ngunnawal region community.

Her debut EP Wallabindi Dreaming weaves powerful stories of the Stolen Generations, matriarchy and reconciliation — shared through deeply personal songwriting, heartfelt vocals and moments that invite both reflection and connection.

Joined by her incredible band — Richard Gorter (guitar), John Coates (bass) and Jonathan Jones (percussion) — this promises to be an evening of truth-telling, storytelling, soul-stirring music and singalongs.
