Queanbeyan Players Inc. is a local community, non-profit theatrical organisation that was formed in 1965 and Incorporated in 1987. We acknowledge Ngunnawal and Ngambri people, the First Peoples and custodians of the land where we live, work and play. We respect and acknowledge their Elders, past, present and emerging. The QP Family is around 120 members strong, all ages and various backgrounds and experience in the theatrical world. Our members vary from those who would love to ‘tread the boards’ to those who are far happier in the dark of backstage, or in the depths of the orchestra pit! QP stage two large musicals each year, rehearsing on Monday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons in the Uniting Church Hall on Rutledge Street Queanbeyan. These productions are staged in the superb, purpose-built theatre 'The Q'. In 2022 QP decided to do a special extra show, featuring a smaller scale production - the Australian work ‘Keating!’ held at the Belconnen Community Theatre, thus providing even more opportunities for performers and crew. After the roaring success of 'Keating!', we have staged the 60's-based musical 'Downtown!' and will be producing 'Next to Normal' in 2024 at the venue. The QP Family strives to perform shows from every genre of musical so we can provide something for everyone, performer and audience alike! Recent shows include 2023's smash hits 'OKLAHOMA!' and 'Footloose', the 60’s grooving ‘Downtown’, 2022’s ‘Keating!’ ‘H.M.S Pinafore’ and the award-winning encore season of 2021’s ‘The Sound of Music’, 2021’s ‘Kiss Me, Kate’, 2019’s ‘Hello Dolly!’ and ‘Oliver!’ and 2018’s upbeat ‘The Wedding Singer’ among many others! Our upcoming productions includes the Pulitzer Prize winning 'Next to Normal' in February 2024, and the recently announced Canberra premiere of the high octane 'American Idiot' coming in June 2024. The QP Family are committed to providing a safe, inclusive environment for everyone involved in a production, a great way to meet new people and join a fantastic community, and most importantly we want everyone to HAVE FUN!
