Deepak Chopra built one of the most recognised wellness empires in the world. Bestselling books. Global meditation retreats. A following that included Oprah Winfrey. Decades of lectures on consciousness, God, and the nature of the human soul.
In January 2026, the US Department of Justice released more than three million pages of documents related to convicted s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein. Chopra's name appeared repeatedly.
The documents show he maintained regular email contact with Epstein from at least 2016 through 2019, ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐

These are his words. To that man. At that time. With full knowledge of what Epstein was.
Chopra has denied any criminal or exploitative conduct. He acknowledged on X "poor judgement in tone" regarding the emails. He stated he was never involved in abusive activity and that any contact was limited.
Separately, an artist named Sevda Rubens publicly alleged that at a meditation event in Europe, when she was 16 years old, Chopra gave her his phone number and suggested they meet late at night. She said she refused and walked away feeling deeply uneasy. Chopra has denied wrongdoing.

But there is another question that sits alongside the legal one. And it is about legacy.
This is a man who built an empire on trust. On the idea that he had a special connection to something higher, something purer than ordinary human weakness. Millions of people followed his teachings on consciousness, on awakening, on what it means to live with integrity. He was positioning himself as a spiritual guide at the same moment he was writing those words to one of history's most notorious child s*x offenders. Not before he knew. ๐จ๐๐๐๐. Years after. Repeatedly.
Legacy is not only what you publish. It is what you do in private, to whom you write, and who you choose to remain close to when you already know who they are.
The wellness industry, the spiritual influencer economy, the personal transformation movement, all of it depends on one thing above everything else. ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ. When that breaks, the library of books, the global retreats, and the decades of quoted wisdom do not hold. They become the backdrop to a very different story.
History will write the full account. What the documents have already written cannot be unwritten.
