Opportunity → Assembly Point exhibition EOIs now open 🔥

Bring your art to Melbourne's Arts Precinct. Are you a curator or artist? This one is for you.

Creative Spaces is accepting applications to show work at Assembly Point. This unique space features five large-scale glass vitrines along the Southbank walkway between Sturt and Moore Streets, providing a unique opportunity to present sculptural, two and three-dimensional works that are accessible to audiences 24/7.

Previous exhibiting artists include The Huxleys, Yuchen Xin, Tatjana Este, Sean Meilak, Miranda Smith, University of Melbourne alumni and more.

Located alongside VCA, ACCA and NGV International, the space connects artists with thousands of visitors, students and arts audiences every day. Get your artwork in front of them.

OVER9000 explores Bounce and Rock, two foundational Hip Hop grooves that build on elemental rhythms as both structural and expressive tools.

Here, groove becomes more than a foundation; it’s a living language of connection, resistance, and resilience.

Mapping the depth of Hip Hop freestyle and collective exploration within The Unguided, OVER9000 is grounded in the principles of cyphering, research, and play as choreography emerges organically through embodied practice and shared knowledge.

Working within an energetic spectrum from stillness to intensity, the performance channels the essence of freestyle battles and jams into a theatrical context, exploring the elasticity of presence and the power of the body in motion.

An offering and an extension, OVER9000 is a continuation of lineages, pushing beyond perceived limits, and a testament to the ever-expanding possibilities of Hip Hop dance.

Artist Opportunity → A Free Studio Space for Aboriginal Artists and Creatives 💥

Expressions of Interest are now open for the fourth edition of our free Aboriginal Creative Studio Space, an initiative that provides studio space for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists and room to get making.

Previous recipients include Iluka Sax-Williams, Stacey Edwards & Thelma Beeton (pictured), and Bianca Easton.

Available from October 2026 – April 2027, there is no requirement to deliver a public outcome. Suitable for up to 2 artists, the 17sqm studio is centrally located at Boyd Studios, well-lit and has high ceilings, wooden floors and 24/7 access.

Applications close: Wednesday 2 September, 4pm.

Applicants will answer three questions about their practice, how they intend to use the space and the benefits this opportunity will bring to their art-making.

Through photography, scanning, mapping, drawing, painting, textile-based works, interactive projects, moving image and AI-generated imagery, the exhibition considers dialogues between the real and artificial, the tactile and imagined.
