What kind of "shadow" am I confronting now?
And when I place myself within that shadow, will I be able to recognize the patterns lurking there?

Perhaps the very act of gazing at a pattern transforms one's relationship with it, even before any definitive conclusion is reached.

Through ceramic and glass works characterized by light, reflection, and ambiguous forms, artist Richard Monger illuminates the moment when something seemingly hidden begins to reveal itself. He invites us into a "moment of recognition". An experience born from the fleeting intersection of perception, memory, and pattern.

Exhibition opportunity ↘
City of Melbourne Libraries are now accepting expressions of interest to exhibit in 2027.

City Library gallery, Library at the Dock gallery and window space are available for 6-week exhibitions in 2026. The spaces provide a fantastic opportunity for visual artists to curate and exhibit their work to a diverse and vibrant audience.

Places in the program are limited and participants will be selected through an open EOI process.

Applications close at 11.59pm on Tuesday 10th November 2026.

Creative Spaces artist spotlight: Stirling Caiulo, River Street Studios 💥

His exhibition 'There’s no hiding from the blood moon' is now open at Gallery at the Dock.

Witness a vibrant series of paintings that dive into the forces that shape us. What we see, what we absorb, what we believe, and what we intuit. The blood moon is zoomed in and becomes a celestial presence that heightens perception and throws our instincts into question, making us wonder where our impulses, ideas and creative instincts actually come from. Angel numbers, synchronicities and intuitive signs emerge as fragments of guidance, hinting at an unseen network of influence beneath the surface.

Stirling Caiulo creates paintings as sites of psychic and embodied transformation. His work is raw, symbolic, and rooted in a desire to fortify the spirit, exploring what it means to reclaim form from fragmentation, both personal and collective.

Look at this! 'Beneath the Street: Subterranean Dialogues 2' , 152 Sturt Street, Southbank, explores what exists beneath the visible — hidden systems, ecologies, networks, histories and tensions that shape everyday experience. Beneath the Street isn’t a literal interpretation of what lies below the street. It explores what exists beneath and between—moving off the beaten track, stepping backwards and forwards in time, and scratching below the surface.
