Caretaker Position – Proserpine Showgrounds
The Proserpine Showgrounds is looking for someone reliable, friendly, practical and community-minded to become an important part of our team.
This position would suit someone who already has a part-time or full-time job, or a retiree looking for a practical role within the community.
Duties include:
• Routine inspections of buildings, amenities, grounds, gates and fences.
• Preparation of buildings and amenities before bookings, ensuring facilities are clean, tidy and ready for use.
• Minor maintenance of buildings, amenities, gates and fences.
• Mowing, slashing and w**d control, with all required equipment and fuel provided.
• Promptly reporting maintenance, safety or security concerns to the Executive Committee.
• Assisting with event preparations, including the Proserpine Show, within the agreed scope of the role.
• Liaising with the Hiring Officer regarding upcoming bookings and use of the grounds.
• A small amount of liaison with overnight campers and regular hirers regarding use of the grounds and infrastructure.
Accommodation provided
A house in good condition is provided for the successful applicant, including water.
The Committee is happy to discuss the role in more detail, including our priorities, accommodation arrangements and how your particular skills may fit the position.

🚜 WHAT A DAY, PROSERPINE! 🌮

Well, the Tractor Pull was an absolute success and what a great crowd to be part of!

From the whole Vandito Viesta family, we just want to say a massive and very humble THANK YOU to everyone who came along, supported the event and stopped by Vandito for a feed. 🌮

A special thank you to the Proserpine Showgrounds for all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make events like this happen.

And a huge shout out to the Whitsunday Old Iron Restorers Club. The time, effort and passion you guys put into keeping the old iron alive and putting on such a great event certainly doesn't go unnoticed. 🚜

To the competitors, volunteers, organisers, families and everyone who travelled out for the day, thank you. The atmosphere was fantastic and it was great seeing so many people out supporting a local event.

A special thank you as well to everyone who brought their cars along for the Show and Shine. It was wonderful to see people proudly displaying their pride and joy for the community to enjoy. The time, care and passion that goes into each vehicle was clear to see, and it was a real pleasure having them there as part of the day.

And to everyone who lined up at our little food van, had a yarn, grabbed a feed or came back for round two, thank you for supporting Vandito Viesta. It honestly means a lot to us.

We're only a little food van having a crack, and days like this remind us why we love doing what we do.
Good people, old iron, beautiful cars, great food and one bloody good day! 🤠🚜🌮

Proserpine A P & I would love to thank our wonderful volunteers that assisted with the bar at today's tractor pull at the Proserpine Showgrounds. You made the day! And a big congratulations to the Whitsunday Restorers. We hope you had a very successful event. There was certainly a large crowd.

The 2026 Show Whitsunday is over for another year..... and what a weekend it was !

Whilst I do wish the weather had been a little kinder to us all - its the one thing we can’t control - we just have to deal with it and enjoy the challenge !

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people -

Firstly my hard working committee, who just get the JOB DONE year after year.

The amazing group of volunteers who give their time during Show weekend, but also in the weeks leading up, and then today, the aftermath and clean up .......
Volunteers are the heart of our SHOW. We could not do this without you !

To our Sponsors - I cannot imagine what a Show looks like without the generousity of our amazing sponsors - many of whom have supported The Show for many years.
There would not be a Show or Showgrounds without your support....
