Collecting Australian Contemporary Jewellery: In conversation with the National Gallery of Australia & the Powerhouse Museum - a seminar for Radiant Pavilion 2026.
**Bookings essential -link in bio**

Join us in a special “show and tell’ seminar featuring the senior curators of two significant Australian contemporary jewellery collections.Listen to the discussion with Eva Czernis-Ryl, Exhibition Curator at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney and, Simeran Maxwell, Associate Curator of Australian Art, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.

Together they will review some examples of work from recent and past acquisitions, provide inside stories on significant exhibitions, touch on the process of selecting work and displaying the collections, and discuss what the future may hold for jewellery practices.

This event will provide a unique conversational and visual insight into both of these museum collections.

Official Save The Date post for a rather stellar line-up of makers from across Australia. Well, there’s a few from outside of Victoria 🙃. Please feel welcome to mark your calendars for our daytime launch🥂🛠️.

Australians have inherited a variety of multicultural traditions from their Indigenous, Middle East, Asian, and Anglo-European backgrounds and often reflect on the similarities and contrasts of themselves and others internationally. However, instead of reflecting on just their cultural heritage, some contemporary jewellers and object-makers are looking domestically and more critically at Australia itself, in reference to its politics, the decades long nature of attitudes towards migrants, cultural influences on aesthetic urbanity, and reflections on our nature within various places and sites.

The ideas presented in the medium of contemporary jewellery and objects aim to articulate these personal histories and identities by creating work that is grounded conceptually, materially and even literally in
Australian places.

Here There Everywhere: An Atlas of Everything presents a survey of these personal histories, acknowledging our indigenous history and the more recent, imported ones as part of our ancestry and identity. By exploring the multiplicity of meanings of sites, exploring localities and creating work that is grounded conceptually, materially and even literally in Australian and/or foreign places, Here There Everywhere: An Atlas of Everything celebrates a survey of creatively realized works reflecting on what it means to have an Australian identity today.

A full list of participants and other visuals will be clogging your feed from now until the opening date!
